Firstly, if this window was slightly open when the girls were found, how come this is the first time it’s been mentioned?

Only an expert on gases would know if that window would provide enough fresh air and ventilation to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning. Plus they’d need to know the location of the alleged faulty equipment and whether internal doors were closed.

As I have posted before, carbon monoxide is a heavy gas that sits lower than air so the concept of this window being ‘slightly open’ and that meaning air would fumes would ‘pump out’ is maybe flawed. Also depends on the air temperatures.

Also the whole thing with the bleach is really odd. Bleach gives off noxious fumes, chlorine gas, in combination with other detergents that can be fatal.

Im afraid we will never know the truth.

The sisters took their secret to the grave.

In the article it says the sisters were about ten weeks behind on rent and were summoned to court in may but didn’t turn up which is interesting. So they were behind in rent before they died.
If it was suicide (say by inhaling a home made gas) I find it strange that they would be tucked up in bed, it’s not a peaceful way to go.

It’s a myth that an open window will prevent CO poisoning. A slightly-cracked window would not have prevented death, though it could be relevant for something like body temps. Ex: “Opening windows and doors, and operating fans is NOT sufficient to prevent buildup of CO in a home.” DPH Issues Warning about Carbon Monoxide Poisoning.

Could they have been withholding rent because they were in dispute with the landlord / management ~ about something like faulty heating / hot water for example (could hint at gas leak ?) Many people incorrectly believe withholding rent can give them leverage and a day in court to tell a judge what the problem / grievance is. Why didn’t they turn up to court ? Were they already dead? In which case there’s two ways of considering that ~ they couldn’t take the stress and fear and ended their own lives OR someone permanently silenced them.

My personal opinion, this is not suicide. JMO MOO

Wow.. That was the window I mentioned before. It was kept open when I walked past, even though there was likely no one inside (to inspect the property for leasing).

So now I wonder if that window, for some reason, is kept open at all times, whoever is living/in charge there. In other words, no special meaning to it. Thinking too hard

I think someone was in the apartment “guarding” them for a period time before their deaths, a family member or someone sent to sort them out. That could cause them to rack up the rent bill too if they weren’t allowed to leave to go to work etc

Have to agree with you that someone may have been a 'handler'', the apt was practically a fishbowl, they could have been watched from anywhere, including from someone in the same building, imo, speculation.

Is there any hope we will ever know what happened?

Personally, I doubt it :( because the time has gone past and a high level of forensics and interviews would have been needed immediately.

Everyone with an interest in this case should watch “Saudi Arabia Uncovered” on Netflix. It’s only available until the 29th of Sept in Aust, further illustrates the way things work there and imo cement my feelings on it further.

''The violent scene was filmed by a young woman living at the home for young orphan girls in Khamis Mushait, a town in southern Saudi Arabia. She posted the video from an anonymous Twitter account, preferring to protect her identity, and explained that her action "comes after many unspoken assaults" that the girls at the home had suffered before. ''

Either they were still alive, or maybe someone entered the apartment shortly before they died and opened the window because the smell was overpowering? Same for bleach. It could suppress the smell so if anyone was in the apartment after they died, they could have used it, to stand staying in the apartment.

Is there a firm date for when they were last seen alive? I have known date of death estimates based only on remains to be wrong by a large margin--by months. Were the sisters seen alive after the rent became overdue?
Surely the water company could check last time water was used or their phones last were active with searches or anything. Pretty sure their phones would easily tell a story as would utilities.strange that nothings come of this, after so long it’s as if they are waiting for the public to forget

Unrelated, but wondering what is it about sisters in their early twenties, who (apparently) commit suicide together and are found in bizarre settings? speculation, imo, fwiw.
Sept 2022
''KARACHI: Two sisters were found dead in the underground water tank of their house in Orangi Town area of Karachi, Bol News reported.''

''The two girls were identified as Samina, aged 20, and Amina, aged 22.

A brother of the girls said his sisters committed suicide after being disheartened for failing to find a marriage proposal. He said that he has given a full statement to the police.''

Whereas if they're killed one at a time they don't even make the news? Speculation, etc.

Water. Well first the flat would have to be individually metered. Then it would depend what kind of meter it was: whether able to be remotely read and if so the frequency of data transmission. Then the water supplier would need to be storing the information. If it's receiving hourly readings, that's a lot of information across clients, when all it needs for billing is perhaps quarterly totals.

(I've never paid for water, because the flats where I've lived haven't been individually water-metered. Australia, but not NSW.)

But if the sisters were killed there was probably someone else in the flat, who could have used water, electricity, even their phones, any time after their deaths. It's still important to know when the young women were last seen in person, and by whom.
