While sitting in Dr's surgery saw a news flash on T.V that he has been caught in Ballarat. Don't know which channel it was. On a tablet so can't link.
Can someone check the news stations and post a link. If they caught him in Ballarat he didn't go far. Where has he been staying? Lots of questions on this one.

Yes, I heard it on the 11am radio news this morning too. Spotted near a public toilet in Ballarat, then picked up soon after, is what I heard. They did say he had not been formally identified yet (perhaps he was denying that he was Andrew Darling?)


ETA: Oh I see why they said not formally identified yet ... I guess they are not supposed to be publishing his name, according to the Illawarra Mercury. I guess someone better tell the police and news.com.au (see link in my next post below .. they both name him).

Police said he cut off his electronic ankle monitor to evade authorities.

The man cannot be identified by court order.

ESCAPED child sex offender Andrew Darling has been caught in Ballarat.
The man escaped from Ararat correctional facility in western Victoria last weekend and was arrested this morning at a toilet block.
Police said “he was compliant and surrendered to police without incident”.

Corrections Minister Ed O’Donoghue said Darling will be charged with breaching his supervision order, which carries a penalty of up to five years in prison.
