Gold Coast playboy Gable Tostee will face trial in late October.

Gable Tostee, the man accused of murdering New Zealand tourist Warreina Wright during a Tinder date on the Gold Coast, will face trial in October.

Ms Wright fell 14 storeys to her death from Mr Tostee's Surfers Paradise apartment after the pair had met through dating app Tinder in August 2014.

Two weeks have been set aside for the trial, which is due to begin in Brisbane's Supreme Court on October 31.

Mr Tostee was released from prison in August of last year, having served six months behind bars over a drunken police chase unrelated to the alleged balcony murder.

He can't seem to stop himself from posting on social media, what with posts on his FB and that bodybuilding forum.

I believe he changed his name by deed poll to "Eric Thomas" last year.

ACCUSED murderer Gable Tostee has attended a Brisbane court for a hearing ahead of his trial in October.

A pre-trial hearing was held this morning and the court was told 51 witness statements had been collated, but it would be whittled down to about 20 at trial.

Prosecutor Glenn Cash said the trial would easily finish within two weeks.

IT helps to know what you are talking about. He doesnt have to look the part - its not a hearing - its a pre-trial hearing.

The fact that more than half of the so called witness statements have already been thrown out (discredited) just at the pre -trial, says a lot about the efficacy of the prosecution. No wonder they are saying the trial will be over quickly, they have nothing of substance at all, and it is fairly obvious they are going to play all their weak cards very quickly. This trial is going to be one of the biggest farces in Qld history.

The Brisbane Supreme Court on Thursday heard that Mr Tostee's hearing, scheduled to start on October 10, was expected to last two weeks, with close to 20 witnesses to be called to give evidence.
