The desperate search for a missing mum continues after cops rushed to her burning home to find blood stains throughout the charred house.

Emergency services were called to the home of Wendy Sleeman, 61, on Tuesday afternoon to find her Ironbark St house in Elanora, in Gold Coast's south, alight.

The front of the house had been set on fire and blood stains were found inside.

Ms Sleeman is known in the local community for breeding Labradors.

Queensland Police have not yet confirmed details of what was found in the home or the fire but will hold a press conference on Wednesday morning.

Police released a missing persons alert for 'a 61-year-old woman' at 7.45pm on Tuesday, seeking 'urgent assistance' to find a 30-year-old man they believe can help with inquiries.

Gold Coast detectives are co-ordinating an extensive investigation to locate 61-year-old Wendy Sleeman (pictured), who went missing from Elanora yesterday (January 24).

Police were called to an Ironbark Street residence to reports of a break and enter at approximately 3pm.

Upon arrival, emergency services located blood in the property and a door mat on fire.

The small fire was extinguished and the property thoroughly searched, but no persons were located.

A crime scene was declared at the address and Operation Victor Arum established to investigate the circumstances of the incident.

Due to the nature of the scene, police and family hold serious concerns for the wellbeing of Wendy.

Police believe she may be in the company of her son, 30-year-old Slade Murdok (pictured), in a blue Honda Jazz (pictured) bearing Queensland registration 952AT4.

Detectives are co-ordinating an extensive search utilising police, POLAIR and investigative technologies.

Wendy is described as Caucasian in appearance, approximately 153cm tall with a heavy build and short brown hair.

Slade is described as Caucasian in appearance, approximately 180cm tall with a proportionate build and dark brown hair.

Police urge anyone who may see Slade to not approach him, and immediately call Triple Zero (000).

Anyone with information in relation to either of their whereabouts is urged to immediately contact police.

There are grave fears for a Gold Coast woman after her disappearance before “clear signs of violence” were found at her home, with her son also sought.

Wendy Sleeman, 61, has not been seen since Tuesday afternoon after an apparent altercation at her Elanora home.

Police issued an urgent plea for her whereabouts after declaring her to be in a “high-risk” situation.

Her son, Slade Murdok, is wanted by police. Members of the public are urged to not approach him if they see him.

Emergency services found blood in the home and Detective Superintendent Brendan Smith said there were “clear signs of violence and evidence of a fight”.

I noticed a small item in this article (BBM):

"He said the Ms Sleeman had initially called police on Tuesday morning to report that her son had been spotted near her workplace and “in contravention of orders in place”.

JMO it looks like she already had some type of restraining order in place against him. Poor Mom, that must be heartbreaking.


Also the part about "Officers are looking for her 30-year-old son Jamie - who has since changed his name to Slade Murdok" - wonder if he changed his name before/after/due to any legal problems. BTW there also is a Marvel character named "Slade Murdock - but Murdock with a "C", and is female "Dare the Terminator - a personal sword serves as her favorite weapon" - but maybe a tie to that?:

What a horrific situation! I hope they are able to find Wendy alive. MOO - with her disappearing in the time after she called the police to report the break in, I suspect whoever broke in (possibly her son) was still at the house when she called police.

Police have arrested a 30-year-old man in Brisbane’s south this afternoon as the search continues for 61-year-old Wendy Sleeman, missing from Elanora since yesterday (January 24).

The man was arrested without incident shortly before 5pm.

Detectives continue to search for a blue Honda Jazz hatch Queensland registration 952AT4 and appeal for members of the public to be on the look-out for the car and report any sightings to police.

No further information is available at this time.

The son of missing Gold Coast woman Wendy Sleeman has been arrested as police continue their search for the 61-year-old.

Slade Murdok, 30, was found in Inala in Brisbane's south-west late on Wednesday afternoon.

Ms Sleeman went missing from her Elanora home on Tuesday in suspicious circumstances.

Earlier, police divers retrieved Ms Sleeman's CCTV system and a knife from the lake behind her home.

Police divers have been searching the lake behind missing mother Wendy Sleeman’s home after she vanished 30 minutes after reporting an alleged home invasion.
The Gold Coast mother’s son was arrested on Wednesday afternoon more than 24 hours after the 61-year-old went missing.

He has since been charged with multiple domestic violence offences and is expected to appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday.

A Queensland Police spokeswoman told NCA NewsWire police divers had searched the lake behind Ms Sleeman’s home.

Items were in the water, which will be examined by the police forensic unit.

A man who is accused of dragging his missing mum from her home while she was “bleeding heavily” and “unconscious” has claimed he had “no involvement” in her disappearance, his lawyer has said.

Slade Murdok, also known as Jamie Sleeman, has been charged over the disappearance of his mother Wendy Sleeman, who was last seen on Tuesday and remains missing.

The 30-year-old appeared before Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday wearing a white hospital gown and showing signs of bruising and cuts to his head, and remained silent in the dock while his matter was heard.

Mr Murdok is facing a number of charges, including one count each of unlawful stalking, burglary, assault occasioning bodily harm, kidnapping, attempted arson, and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

While he is yet to enter an official plea, Mr Murdok’s lawyer, Rodney Keyte, told reporters outside of court following the failed bail application his client had claimed he was innocent.

“The allegations are extremely serious and there is an ongoing investigation,” Mr Keyte said.

“At this stage there’s a bit more to go to before we start discussing whether he’ll contest the charges.

“His indication to us is that he’s had no involvement and again as I mentioned in the court the evidence doesn’t suggest otherwise.

“Obviously he’s not in good physical form and certainly not in good mental form as well, he needs time to process what’s going on and what’s actually alleged as well.”

Police prosecutor Bimal Raut told the court Mr Murdok allegedly attended his mother’s employment, Surfers Paradise State School, on Tuesday.

The court heard on Thursday Ms Sleeman, who has been estranged from her son for several years, called police on her way home about 2.40pm to explain she believed her son had tried to contact her.
