An active search is in progress in Kendall, Port Macquarie, NSW for a 3 year old male, William Tyrell. William has been missing since the 12th of September. He was last seen playing on the balcony of his grandmother's house in the 2439 postcode area of Kendall, dressed in a Spiderman outfit. Since this time, no sign has been registered of William.

William is an Australian national, 93cm (3ft 6in) and is of both medium build and complexion. His eyes and hair are brown, and he is of Caucasian (IC1) appearance.

It is believed that after leaving the balcony of his grandmother's home, he wandered into thick bushland near to the property. The SES, Police, Volunteers and Local community members have been searching the area for any trace. Police divers have been searching dams and waterways, and trackers on trail bikes and horses have spent hours searching scrubland in the area. There are at this time, more than 300 people involved in this search, which is still being treated as a rescue, not as a recovery operation.

New South Wales Police have said that they cannot rule out the possibility that William has been abducted by person or persons unknown, and as a result of this, they are interviewing all known and registered sexual offenders in the town of Kendall and the surrounding areas.

Below is a recent image of William, dressed in the same Spiderman outfit in which he went missing.

Anyone with information regarding William's location, or the circumstances surrounding his disappearance, is asked to call the Police in Australia directly on 000 (Emergency, Australia ONLY), Crime Stoppers Australia on 1800 333 000, or the Headquarters of New South Wales Police (if you are outside Australia) on +61 2 9281 0000.

This thread will be updated regularly through news articles from the ABC and Local newspapers in the Kendall and Port Macquarie area.

You are right a balcony is usually an upper level.
This is Verandah or porch is usually on a free standing one level home leading to the front door.
Visualise Grannie sitting in her rocking chair out front on the porch.

Similar?

And no one would abduct a child from a veranda.

Superintendent Paul Fehon said police and sniffer dogs had not found any trace, footprint or scent of William but rescue teams would expand the search area on Tuesday.

'We’ll be expanding out to three kilometres from the family home where William was last seen and we’ll also be going back over the dams and waterways,' he said.

I was under the impression the kids were together the whole time too.

He was playing in the backyard and running around the house with his sister. We are going to continue to comb the area trying to come up with something.'

Police have interviewed William's little sister, but she did not know anything about what happened.

'She knows William is lost, she knows there is lots of people looking for him and she wants him back… she misses him,' Nicole said.

I just feel like there isn't going to be a good outcome in this case. The little one has been away a long time on his own if he did just wander off. He's not got the life skills to survive in the bush for all this time does he? He won't have easy access to drinking water, and toddlers really aren't safety conscious around water anyway. If he's fallen into a steam or by a dam, oh it doesn't bear thinking of.

It's so odd that his scent stops at the gate too. You would think the dogs would at least be able to give a direction he wandered off in, if he did wander off. So was he abducted? In my experience 3 year olds are quite shy and nervous around new people, even if they have seen them around their parents a couple of times. I think he would be cautious of someone trying to lead him away, unless they tried the "do you want to see the puppy in my car" thing or just grabbed him and bundled him away.

It's just so frustrating.

THANK YOU!!!! Oh, I understand your frustration, me too! Where does this incorrect information come from? It would save us so much speculation to know the facts day one! OK, so, you know for certain he was playing in the front yard, and she went inside. I thought she was with him the entire time. This changes everything. Now I think someone had to be watching them. Check neighbors and any visitors in the area that day. Regardless of what happened, I do not believe he went into those woods, and I have had a sick feeling about this baby from the beginning. :(

Ok, so ABC and SBS both don't know what they're on about. Both in their latest articles mention he was on the balcony of his grandmother's house. If the national broadcaster can get their own *$!* wrong, what hope is there for the rest of us?

If the house is the one that was in early MSM reports, it is on a corner and the house is on an angle - the front yard could be either side of the house and it is a 1.25 acre block - possibly why it is being misreported IMO

The trouble, for me at least, is that I am not on FB, and can't access any information there at all. And we aren't allowed to site FB as a credible source here on WS. :(

It was a quote from Superintendent Paul Fehon. This is what else he said.

Superintendent Paul Fehon said police were appealing for information from anyone that was in the Kendall area, near Port Macquarie on the NSW mid north coast, on Friday before 11am.

'It's up to information from members of the public. Someone would know something if young William is not lost in the bush,' Supt Fehon said.

Whilst we have our teams here searching and his survival is definitely our priority, we have an open mind and we are broadening our investigative teams at present.'

He added that police still had no leads as to where he might have gone since he disappeared from his grandmother's home in Kendall.

If the dogs didnt pick up his scent, it makes me afraid that someone grabbed him up and threw him into their vehicle.

Nicole stated "William is “a happy, cheeky, adventurous little boy, who doesn’t wander off typically”.

In the same video the officer indicates the mum and grandmother became aware quickly that he was missing.....sounds like Dad and maybe younger son weren't there at the home during the time he went missing. All news reports only mention Mum, grandmother and sister.

I'm sorry, but in a quiet area like Kendall seems to be, a 3 year old could not get that lost in the space of 5 MINUTES that he cannot hear people calling him. He could be completely out of sight, but not out of earshot.

The story does not add up at all.
