On the morning William disappeared, Mr Spedding was supposed to be at the house to carry out repairs, but he was unable to contact William’s grandmother by phone, Mr Youngberry says.
“They have got proof that they were at the cafe because he paid for the coffees by card,” he said.
Mr Spedding and his wife then attended a presentation across the road at Laurieton Primary School, where one of the grandchildren was receiving an award.
Investigators were not aware of this detail before they questioned Mr Spedding this week, Mr Youngberry said.

Another former GAPA member, Anthony Jones of Wauchope, has also been charged with indecent assault.
It is understood he was
charged shortly after William vanished from his grandmother's yard in Kendall on September 12, 2014.
Jones and Bickford were also
questioned at length about any connection to William's disappearance and they were asked to
provide details of where they were on September 12.
It is understood Jones used to live in Wellington in north-west NSW, where Mr Spedding also lived and
ran a pawnbroker business until his move to the Mid North Coast.

In an interview with The Daily Telegraph last week, Mr Spedding said he and his wife were distressed at the involvement of FACS.
“It was an unrelated issue that’s been adversely affected by the William Tyrell activity,” he said.
Following a call from CrimeStoppers,
the homicide squad turned their attention on Mr Spedding in mid-December without knowing about the December 9 FACS inquiry.
Police
have investigated some alleged inconsistencies in what he told them about his movements on September 12 but have stressed the search of Mr Spedding’s home and business was
just one line of inquiry and not a breakthrough in the baffling case.

not aware of the coffee and presentation until
after the week of office and business raids.
What had BS said his movements were - if he had not told the police he was having coffee with his wife?
Homicide detectives had turned their attention to BS
in December, so it can be assumed BS had been interviewed ( 10 pages ?) and just as Bickford and Anderson had been questioned at length about his whereabouts the day William vanished and presumably and connection he may have had.
