ETA: could William be in one of those photos?

Dunno, but I reckon the only reason they're quite insistent on WT being alive is because of photographic evidence of this nature. How else would they know?

It's all too :censored: disgusting and creepy. Oxygen thieves, all of them.

The berating part reminded me of MS where it was reported she contacted the alleged accusers about being disappointed in their actions. Very sad.

Maybe the wife was genuinely unaware of what had happened? Maybe she was asleep and it took place during the night when everyone was asleep or if she was watching tv or doing housework and the children were sleeping? I'm not defending her by any means but it is a possibility.

Over 30 years with 5 victims - it can't happen you don't realize something going on, IMO. Except one is intellectually impaired and these are the very few. You can not be so in good faith and you can not sleep so tight - impossible, I think.

That kind of long term abuse happens in a family "eco-system" that allows it, growing more abusers and more enablers along the way. I mean, unless the granddaughters were from sons who were not abused, it likely happened to the children of formerly abused adults, never mind the wife knowing. This is one reason why the more it comes to light and action is taken, we can empower people who would have otherwise enabled/ignored it do the very difficult work of blowing up their lives in order to protect others.

I can't even explain how dreadful I feel for William's parents.

I dunno, normally the poor children who get caught up in this are known to the offenders, but William was plucked from his grandma's yard. It is utterly terrifying.

i wish someone (police) working on this case would anonymously post some hopeful info on here like that they know william is alive etc, anything?!
because no reward has been offered does that mean police already know who did this but just waiting for a key witness to talk?

  • #66
The no reward has had me totally baffled from day 1.

Yup... the kinds of people who might know the whereabouts of WT, but don't have the conscience or care factor to come forward, might do so for material gain... money can be a huge motivator!

i think from past posts its the parents who have to request a reward and not members of the public, so they must have been advised not to, just wondering why, what would be the scenario where it wasnt useful?

I have wondered this too... for a long time.

Now that there is a foundation set up I thought the monrey put towards flyers could have been put towards a reward.

Someone posted here earlier on about the possibility of a person and/or people not coming forward because they may be financially reliant on the perp. It could change things if there was a reward.

We don't normally have rewards for info in cases in Australia do we? Only time I can think of any is for cold cases of much more significant length.

but this is a little boys life who police seem to believe is still alive, surely bravehearts could raise funds for a reward to get him home?

No we don't know the psychic MS visited. It is against Websleuth's rules to post links to psychics so it's best to leave it at that.

Sadly, if you start offering a huge reward for every kid who disappears then people will start kidnapping kids just to claim rewards :(

I find it puzzling and mighty suspicious that there is no recent mention of the POI Spedding in the media at all. Not a single peep has been heard. I have no idea why.

I mentioned suppression orders and super injunctions (an injunction to keep a suppression order being publicised that it exists at all) previously and if they were used in Australia - and find out they are. Below is a link about such an order in 2014 - one that Australians would have been kept in the dark if not for WikiLeaks. I understand why they would be issued but I cannot help feel the need for a "we cannot comment at this stage" from the media if this is the case.

http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/jul/30/wikileaks-gag-order-open-justice-is-threatened-by-super-injuctions

"Last month, an Australian judge issued a super-duper injunction preventing the reporting of bribery allegations which involved south east Asian political figures, and in some cases their family members. The allegations have arisen in a criminal case before the supreme court of Victoria. The super-injunction, which not only prevents publication of the allegations, but the detailed terms of the injunction itself, only came to light because WikiLeaks published the intimate details on July 29."

"In Australia, the courts have issued internet take down orders in relation to pending criminal trials. The mainstream media tends to comply, while the rest of the internet, including Google, studiously ignores these attempts to quarantine the jury system."

There was this article a few days back in case you had not seen it:

Looks like there was a complaint however looks like all was cleared.

Surely after nearly a year there would be something that could be released, the Lack of anything being released eg a description of someone or a vechicle etc makes me worry that they still don't really have much.I really hope that's not the case. I really hope that it's because they need to keep it all quiet due to some strategy. But you would think that any little thing the public knows could possibly jog someone's memory. Or maybe your right and it's one person they are appealing to. Just my oppinion

Perhaps money is not the motivator....could there be other things that would be more motivational to someone than money?

There were also a couple more mentions about BS being a POI in this case on both Nine and Ten news last week. Andrew Denney (Ten Sydney crime reporter) even went to BS's house to ask for a comment about the Where's William campaign launch. He was told to go away. So there doesn't seem to be any suppression order, it's just that there is not much to report.

A reward is more probable than not, unless the case is solved imminently, there was a $250k government one for info for Daniel Morcombe, with an addition 750k from a private source. There was a 500k reward for Prue Bird. There is a $1 million dollar reward for Bung Siriboon. It is only a matter of time before there is a reward for William. I think under a year would be unusual though.

Speaking of Bung, she was a 13 year old girl who disappeared on her walk to school in Melbourne, 4 years ago. She deserves as much attention as William and never got it. Pop over to one of her threads and post for her if you have a moment.
