Can you all help find links to attempted child abductions (irrespective of age and gender) in NSW in the last 18 months? More specifically attempted abductions on the north coast of NSW but anywhere in NSW in general will do. There has been a real spate of attempted child abductions not long before and most certainly after William disappeared. It would be good to look at these an analyse them more closely. Is there a pattern? What vehicles were reported etc?

Is it still OK to discuss Anthony Jones - given he has gone back to being identified in court list as AJ.

If not I will delete.

Yep, go for it Soso.

Thank you for this Makara.

This white 4 WD seems more suspicious to me than the 2 cars parked in the street.
Could it have been parked up in the track at the end of the road, waiting?
Could an abductor have been hiding in the heavy shrub surrounding the house waiting for a chance?
If little William was enticed and grabbed at the back of the garden, noone could see it happen.

I've even wondered if it would have been possible for someone in the graveyard to have heard the children playing and shouting from there, how far is it?
Only my thoughts and they possibly make no sense - but then neither does anything.
In this scenario it would be planned, but only that morning.

Yes Jessie I am having trouble getting my head around a couple of cars sitting across the street in broad day light for who knows how long. Just waiting for a young unsupervised child to run down to the roadside.
I know Gary Jubelin and team are the experts - but when he says I can't see anyone running into the yard and risk being seen from the balcony/windows.
I keep thinking how are they so sure that is where William ran too. Do they have something concrete or is this part of the strategy.
imo

Thanks for this Karinna. It's a great start. I'll have to go through it all after I've had some sleep.

You're welcome Makara. I did find others that are dated 2011-2012 which aren't that recent though.

I'm a newbie but have been lurking for a little while.

Just throwing this scenario out there, I apologise if it has all been gone over before in other threads.
I honestly think it would be fairly easy to lure a small child of this age to where you want them to go... eg out of the line of sight to grab. Even a cautious one.
What if BS saw a photo of WT dressed as spiderman in the house when he was checking out the washing machine and mentioned it to his "mates". Would be easy enough to lure a spiderman-loving kid with a spiderman toy, perhaps a little out of sight... just a little spiderman toy peeking around a corner/bush to spark his interest. It irks me no end that BS just happened to have one in his van.

Why did the sniffer dogs not pick up another persons scent if there was anyone else walking around the property?
Could BS have been the lure with the 2 cars as his lookout/getaway? He had a good reason for his scent to be there, he had a great reason to be there if he was sprung by the family on the property. Perhaps he was around the back with the 2 cars/mates out the front waiting for him to grab WT and put him in one of the cars from another access point? He only needed to grab him and leave the property from an area that was out of vision from the windows, quick call to his mates (with a cheap throw away pre-paid... could cops trace these easily?) to drive around (to another spot/street/secluded/bush?). That would explain why the cars were not in the street at the time they noticed William missing and why none were heard.

FWIW I do think these rings are very well organised... from what I have read, many of them put a lot of time/thought/effort into planning their victims (known to them or otherwise) and sometimes groom them for a number of years. I would so so love to believe that William is still alive.

There are far too many coincidences for me to believe BS is not involved somehow... if it smells like a rat and all.

Attempted Abductions & Indecent Assaults of Children 2012-2013

This page will also feature reports of where strangers attempt to speak to children and where children are attacked by strangers plus I will include some attempted abductions/indecent assaults of adults as these may indicate an escalating pattern of behaviour leading to possible abduction.

Just after 3pm (Friday 11 September 2015), a 12-year-old girl was walking along Rifle Street when a red sedan, possibly a Holden Commodore or Ford Falcon, approached her.

Police have been told the car slowed as it went past her, when a front male passenger spoke to her, asking if she wanted a lift.

-.-.-.-

About 3.15pm (Thursday 10 September 2015), a 13-year-old girl was walking along the eastern footpath on Frederick Street towards a bus stop near Eccles Avenue.

The girl walked past an older-model silver sedan stopped in traffic, which had three occupants.

Police have been told a male in the back seat of the car shouted to the girl.

The girl continued to walk towards the bus stop, when the same man left the car, stretched his arms, and took a step towards her, when the girl walked into Eccles Avenue and alerted her mother.

-.-.-.-

Police are appealing to the public to help find the parents or carers of a young boy found alone in Sydney’s west.

About 1.45pm today (Thursday 10 September 2015) the boy was located by members of the public at the intersection of Nelson and Ware Streets, Fairfield.

The boy was distressed but was not injured in any way.

Police believe the boy is about three to four years old, and says his name is “Andrew”.

Kidnapped and left behind ...?? - my thought

-.-.-.-

Around 3.30pm on Tuesday (8 September 2015), an eight-year-old girl was walking with her two brothers along Yarrara Road.

The two boys ran ahead of the girl, and, as she passed a public car-park, a man stepped out of a vehicle and asked her if she wanted a lift.
The man who spoke to the girl is described as being around 50 years old, of thin build, with black curly hair and blue eyes. The car he stepped out of is only described as a white SUV.

-.-.-.-

About 11am (Tuesday 8 September 2015), a 15-year-old girl was walking on Wanganui Road, when she heard a car approach her from behind.

The dark red seven-seater people mover drove past her, completed a u-turn, crossed onto the wrong side of the road and stopped beside her.

-.-.-.-

About 3.15pm yesterday (Saturday 5 September 2015), a 13-year-old girl was walking through

Hooker Creek netball courts when a grey utility approached her.

The male driver exited the car and approached the girl and threatened her. The girl ran from the area and informed her mother of the incident.

-.-.-.-

About 3.05pm (Friday 4 September 2015), an eight year old boy who had just finished school was playing on a wall near the school on Campbell Street, Newtown, when he was approached by an unknown man.

The man took his phone out and took a picture of the boy and said some comments to him before walking away. Whilst doing so he appeared to take another picture of the boy.

The incident was reported to police from Newtown Local Area Command who are investigating the incident.

The man is described as Caucasian, aged in his 50s, with a medium build, short grey hair, and at the time he was wearing a white shirt with a black motif on it and reflective sunglasses.

No car, but important. Did he preplan something? my thought

-.-.-.-

The 17-year-old girl told police she was walking along Old Illawarra Road about 8.45am today (Wednesday 2 September 2015), when a man driving a dark-coloured 4WD yelled at her to get in the car.

The girl became frightened and ran to the school and reported the incident to staff, who alerted police from Sutherland Local Area Command.

An extensive canvass of the surrounding streets was conducted; however, the vehicle had left the scene.

The vehicle was described only as a dark-coloured 4WD with tinted windows.

-.-.-.-

About 3:35pm (Tuesday 1 September 2015) a 14-year-old girl and a 15-year-old girl were walking south along Leura Mall towards Olympian Parade on their way home from school.

Approximately 100 metres from Olympian Parade, the girls were approached from behind by a loud vehicle while they were walking on the footpath.

Police have been told that the driver opened the passenger side door next to the girls and made an unknown comment towards them before speeding away. One of the girls spoke to her mother about the incident who then contacted police.

The vehicle has been described as being a camouflaged army utility, possible white number plates and displaying red P plates.

-.-.-.-

The close friend said Spedding had driven to William's grandmother's house on Monday, September 8, walked down the side of her home, saw the washing machine and said he would need to order a part and would come back.

The friend said the washing machine part arrived on the Thursday afternoon but the following day when Mr Spedding got in touch with the family, he was told he would have to carry out the repair another time.

This is an earlier article - 22 Jan.

I cannot help and revisit everything BS close friend (presumably Colin) has said to the media.
I have said it before but everything that has been said by his mate ...... just seems to have some significance attached at a later date.

He drove to grandmothers on Sept 8 which BS has now corrected as the 9th Sept.
BS walked down the side of the house and saw the washing machine.
Why would he have felt the need to tell the media which way BS walked to view the washing machine days before William vanished?
I am more interested in where he parked the van when he quoted the machine.
imo

I remembered a case of a small boy being abducted from a front yard in Australia. It is believed Derek Percy was the perpetrator in that case. Here's the information.

Percy was stationed with the Navy in Sydney in 1968 when Simon Brook was abducted and murdered.
Simon had reportedly been playing in the front yard of his home in Glebe and was last seen walking away with a thin-faced man.
Details in one of Percy's diaries allegedly match the fatal injuries on the victim.
Simon's father, Professor Donald Brook, said in a television interview aired at the time that:
"The person who killed Simon is very, very disturbed, a very sick person indeed and may well do this again."

All of the child abduction cases that have been mentioned have either:

1. Occurred in public places (Beaumont/Ratcliffe and Gordon/Cowan at Darwin
2. Been taken by someone known to the family and therefore had the child's trust
3. Been taken by a lone offender.

Children used in paedophile rings tend to be known by one of the group or street kids ho won't be missed.
I cannot think of a single case where a young child has been abducted from their home (or other risky location where they could easily be seen and caught) by a member of a paedophile ring. The only other remotely similar case is Madeline McCann, but that was at a resort where strangers could move freely without being noticed.
