- BS, MS and kids drive to Laurieton. This forms a distance of 10.8kms and takes around 17 minutes if traffic is good. They arrive around 9am.

......

It is a distance of 10.2km and takes 13 minutes on a good day to drive to Kendall from Laurieton. Providing BS left Laurieton around 10am this is actually PERFECT timing and makes total sense as he was INTENDING to do this job on that day.

...

The distance between Kendall and Dunbogan is 13.8km and takes 20 minutes on a good day.

.

I just had a question about the assumptions behind these times....

I don't live in the Kendall/Laurieton/Bonny Hills area but I do live in a regional area similar to them. Your time estimates seemed to be based around average speeds of 40km/hr which does seem quite slow for a regional area with barely any traffic lights or traffic. I would have expected the average speed to be closer to 80km/hr?

I guess the important thing to remember is that although BS is a POI it doesn't mean he stole William himself. He could have "facilitated" it. Or assisted afterwards.

I really hope the recent publicity leads to William coming home.

I agree that could be the case SleuthingSally.
If he facilitated William's abduction in any way. If he was involved in William's abduction before, during or after in any way and has not been forthcoming with that information to the police.
I would view him to be just as guilty.
imo

I have been wondering if things are getting too complicated with how this is being looked at...Occam's Razor and all that.

I have said before that the only "opportunistic" part I see of this is that Grandma needed her washing machine fixed. Now I am starting to wonder if there was no grand plan in place by BS, but that he happened upon William, with no prior knowledge of the child, and found him appealing. If BS has pedophilia tendencies then technically he is "attracted" to certain things, just as adults who are attracted to other adults are.

Given his alleged conduct in the 80's and that he was currently guardian over his grandsons, perhaps he had been fighting the urge to do something wrong, but when he saw William he was overcome with a need. I really hate writing that this could be an option. I wonder now if BS took William to fill his urge (insert vomit in mouth here) but had no further plan than that, but instead of drop him off somewhere close, because BS would be thinking he would need to finish the washing machine job and therefore if William was there would probably lose his proverbial **** if he saw him again, so he contacted someone from his past. I have always wondered if William was held in BS office (where the mattress was taken from) while BS waited for someone to collect him. I have always wondered if that SpiderMan toy found in BS van was bought to subdue William and to keep him happy for a time. For some reason I keep hoping that Jubelin has checked the tollway records on the Pacific Highway for that particular day.

What leads me to think of this, is the movie "The Woodsman" with Kevin Bacon. It is shows a different perspective on pedophiles. And please do not think for one moment I sympathise with pedophiles, because I don't. I have been a victim of S/assault. This movie offers an insight into how a pedophile thinks etc.

Anyway this is all just IMO

I worked for AustPost, small parcel delivery in a van. Numerous times I'd pull up to the house and excited kiddies would run out to greet me at the van like I was Santa arriving. I'd usually tell them to go get mummy. They'd ask questions while looking into the van. I'd locate the parcel from either the back of the van or at the side sliding door, then they'd follow me to the front door. Many times I mentioned this to the parents to be careful.

I'm telling you now it would be very easy to put a child into a van, slide the door closed and drive away-windows up, no one would've heard a thing.

Children are perceptive. William might have anticipated excitement of a man coming and considered him a friend. He could have ran around close to the van/car. Kids do these things and are NOT always aware of their surroundings. That's why we hold their hands in public!

He was only 3 years old and Spedding is either very unlucky or very lucky.

I think the difference in this case is that where would you be parking, at the front of the house or on the road might be about 60m away from the house?

If BS was parking on the driveway at the front of the house, I guess WT’s family would know BS was there.

If BS parked on the road which is a fair bit of distance from where WT was playing, he might had two options :

  1. he get over near the backyard spy on the family, wait until WT ran out, grabbed him and then ran back to the car with the hope that no family member running out in those seconds/minutes, the shortest path might be about 30m
  2. he waited at the end of the grassland about 50 to 60m away from the house hoping to get WT’s attention, hoping that the 3yo not speaking out, not to go back to tell his mum of a stranger and that he would run those distance down the slope towards BS

There is some difficulty here, he needs to be very accurate with those steps, I think it needs to be quick and face, and for a person age in 60s, I personally think is not that easy.

Just to clarify this, a PI has not got access to anything that can't be obtained publicly. There is no "special" PI access, and even those with links to LE are not allowed to get any info through that avenue. Sure, there are plenty of resources that aren't generally known about, a bit like the exif data, but everything they can access, you can access. Might need deep pockets though, for some stuff, and a lot of it can't be found out via google, unless you are searching for something specific, but trust me, it is all in the public domain.

Also, a PI will very rarely get involved in a criminal case. They are much more likely to work in civil & commercial areas.

A good rule of thumb for anyone, especially a PI investigating something, is ask yourself "who" "what" "where" "when" "why" & "how"

Those questions have to be answered in any investigation.

This is so true, MsDee.

To paraphrase Thomas Edison: All it takes to discover something is "one percent inspiration, ninety-nine percent perspiration." (Also, when dealing with people it's good to remember; "You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar." That's how I find out a lot of useful information. By the way, thanks Nanna, for those wise words!)

You're right, there are so few secrets in the 'information age'. All it takes is a search engine and an inquiring mind to find out almost anything.

The 5 W's are old friends from my Uni days. It's absolutely vital to suspend judgement if you don't know all of the facts.

An excavator arrived shortly after. For two days they searched under the house. They scattered a wood heap and took away the remains of a fire pit and other items for analysis. They pumped out his septic tank as reporters from local and national media outlets looked on

Very rarely remains will be found in the paedohile killer’s home, in those cases usually remains are in the bush or forest, the kendall area is surrounded by bush and forest, those places are definitely more likely to find evidence than at BS’s home.

Something has been playing on my mind. Tradies rarely 'put off' a job in my experience. They usually do a quote, get the part ASAP and then return to fit it (also ASAP). Many are self employed and they need the income (especially if they do it 'less for cash'). Not inferring anything here, it just puzzles me is all.

http://www.sunshinecoastdaily.com.au/news/police-search-boy-5-missing-bush-rainbow-beach/2777921/#/0

A BOY who has been the subject of a massive land and air search at Wallu, near Tin Can Bay, has just been found safe and well, delighted police confirm.

"Literally only seconds ago," a police officer confirmed.

The boy is believed to have turned up at home after spending the day with his dogs in an area of bush at the rear of his parent's home, at the corner of Tin Can Bay Rd and Rainbow Beach Rd.

Totally oblivious to the increasingly desperate search effort underway by police and volunteers on foot, horseback, motorcycles and helicopters, the boy and his two canine companions arrived at his parents' back door about 6.15pm

The boy was last seen at around 10.30am, and is believed to have followed two dogs into the bush, near his home on Rainbow Beach Road.

Police had not released the boy's name but those searching were calling out "Harley".
(My comment: For what exactly that secretiveness? IMO it doesn't really help somebody.)

This little 5yo boy came home - wonderful! But where was he -alone- between 10.30 and 6.15 (!!) and wasn't seen by helicopter teams and not found by search teams on the ground ...?

A 5yo and two dogs? That is shocking.

While talking about the land and air search, it would be good that the police force/SES do some regular search in the Kendell bush and forest quarterly if not monthly, this should applied to all missing person and many other bushes and forests.

Evidence could be there, the perpetrator might had dumped the remains at those locations sometimes after the land and air search or the initial search could have been overlooked, what cannot be seen last time might be able to see it this time.

Paraphrase

Cold Case Barnes as he is known- was formerly the Qld coroner. His decision to hold a public inquest of Daniels disappearance in 2003 was instrumental in identifying the killer.
As the strike force is still actively investigating William's disappearance and inquest is not likely to occur soon.

Yes, but doesn't the release of this information in MSM means they're officially looking for a 'killer'? I feared this all along. *heart breaks into a million pieces*

So getting back to the award ceremony at the school, and the 'family friend' who joined BS and MS .... even if it was NOT Colin .... are there photos with timestamps? If I had gone to a ceremony and taken photos of my friends grandchildren who were receiving awards .... I would make sure I took photos after the event with the child that was presented the award WITH his parents, or in this case .... grandparents.

I would be surprise if Grandparent BS is not in any of the photo unless the Spedding family did not take any photo(?).

So IF BS abducts William at 1030 and arrives at Dunbogan no later than 2pm he has approximately 3.5 hours of missing time in his timeline. This means that William must logically be located somewhere within a 1/1.5 hour radius of the abduction point if the worst has occurred.

I know this is still quite a distance but it makes sense to me based on facts and distances. If someone can verify his attendance at Dunbogan before school pick up this would cement my timeframe. If someone can verify his attendance at the school function (which to my knowledge no one has) then this shortens the timeframe hugely and also tightens the likely location of William if the worst has occurred.

BBM - very good point.

paraphrase

Several person's of interests have been named Bill Spedding and Anthony Jones.
But neither have been charged over William's disappearance.

The Morcombe inquest had 33 POI and it was the coronial inquest that provided the breakthrough.
Mr Barnes and his team found flaws in the investigation - including failure to test alibi's and failure to delve deep in to the past of Daniels killer - who was known to the police, but had been ruled out as a suspect.

http://www.theaustralian.com.au/new...iam-tyrrell-case/story-e6frg6n6-1227534080224

Could one of these 2 have been initially ruled out or is there someone else to come?

http://m.theaustralian.com.au/news/...iam-tyrrell-case/story-e6frg6n6-1227534080224

"Police have identified several “persons of interest” to the investigation, including former truck driver Anthony Jones, who was arrested over the indecent assault of an 11-year-old girl near Kendall in October last year.

Local whitegoods repairman Bill Spedding has also been identified as a “person of interest” to police, although neither he nor Jones have been charged over William’s disappearance."

Is this the first time AJ been named as a POI?

No he was mentioned as a POI when his membership in GAPA was first reported.

It really does seem that way.....just so sad.
