A lot of families use Skype, especially if a parent is away with work etc.

Macdonalds was a rare treat for the children. Being on the internet, on Skype would be a big no no in his household. Unless William was not supervised while surfing the net? He was only 3 and a bit at the time. No child in my opinion has access to such technology unless there was no supervision.

I have a guard dog and she only ever barks when she feels threatened. I've never heard her howl. I have noticed however that every dog is different. Some dogs in our st bark all day, sometimes one dog will bark or howl and then the rest of them join in for no apparent reason. Another thing is if you walk a dog past a house where another dog resides the dog that lives at that house usually will bark. Sounds simple I know but the point im trying to make is if the police took in their dogs that day, the dogs on the st may have only been responding to the presence of them if that makes sense. I'm guessing the journalist was only trying to set the scene although it does seem an odd thing to mention.
i wonder if they did use sirens that day? I've certainly heard dogs howl from them, also in storms other loud noises etc etc. if something sinister did happen on that property there's no doubt the dogs would know. It's such a shame that we can't communicate with them!

My dogs only bark if there is someone about (or if they're telling me I'm not giving them their breakfast fast enough for their liking). The only times I've heard them howl is if there has been a dingo passing by our back paddock or if there's an ambulance siren in the distance.

Skype is a weird thing...we used it once or twice when the inlaws were abroad for 5 months but I just couldn't hack sitting in front of a screen with a mirror image of myself up on the right hand corner. If I'm on the phone I like to potter around the house etc and feel free to scratch a body part without an audience.

I noted that my 5 and 8 year old got bored with it too...at first they were like "wow, I can see me and I can see you" type of thing but then my 5 year old likes to dart around and fidget and we would have to keep harping on him to "go and talk to grandma on the computer" or "sit down" or "stop touching the damn screen" etc when when Skype was on...In the end it was easier for him to hold a phone and take the conversation into other rooms to show the grandparents what he was doing etc as little kids think that others can see what they are seeing when they are on a phone.

So no more Skype for me, even though the grandparents are abroad for at least 4 months per year...gone into the too hard basket for us

I think a work meeting would need much better reception than possibly was able to be had at the house, according to the mum's interview.
I have no idea if there is internet at the house but a family Skype session would be less important, wouldn't matter if it dropped out.
We used Skype to keep up with family when the children were smaller, it was lovely to be able to see them.

Also, I'm wondering what makes people think it's a Skype photo (didn't even realise you could take screenshots on Skype) instead of just a general photo on a laptop/pc/iPad?

Not necessarily believing this photo was taken after his disappearance, just curious about it... if it was my family in this situation it wouldn't be a photo I would automatically pass on to police given it's poor quality and not being a great pic in general, so I'm wondering about it's significance.

The photo is of William, screenshots were taken of the photo during the 60 Minute interview. The photo was among other photos of William on the notice board in Jubes offices.

Davita, I think Karinna might have been wondering what makes people think it's from Skype, not whether it is William in the photo.

Can I also ask what people think about the crying child that was heard at the caravan park in Laurieton? Were the Victorian couple checked out, cleared, not found? Does it tie in here at all or just coincidental?

Something I did find curious was the search of the Caravan Park being made mentioned of (msm) in that same time frame as they were announcing Bill Speddings Home and office being searched.

It also struck me odd of it's inclusion....where MSM had chose to ignore reporting on the number of homes in and around Benaroon that had been searched, had their septic drains emptied etc....

So why is it that msm chose to not make much mention of those searches at the time or publicise those facts....But the Caravan Park search gets the mention??

At the back of my mind ..... the Victorian Couple...a Victorian Connection ???

Apart from the accusations that Bill was charged with in relation to the two girls .....

Let's not forget there were further allegations police were made aware of that they are continuing to investigate .... these alleged "further" offences were supposed to have taken place in Victoria and in the presence of another male.

The allegations were that children were made to perform sexual acts upon each other, the giving of a child By Bill to another man for the purposes of sexual abuse.

There was mention that not only were the two girls abused but evidence pointing to other children also being involved and also evidence of other people committing similar offences in conjunction with Bill Spedding and independently from him.

All these further allegations had/have been referred to a Victorian Task force for further investigation and it was reported further foreseeable arrest could be made.

ETA: I remember reading all that in the past ...will try to find the link about the further allegations and post..

I read some similar things Puggle... some of which made me wonder (due to certain wording in news reports) which came first... the report of the child crying at the caravan park, or BS house etc being searched? The historical allegations made against Mr BS and their possible correlations to Williams disappearance really do raise a lot of questions don't they.

There is zero basis for the Skype theory then? Amazing what people will run with. The first time I saw this photo was during the week after the 60 Minutes story when a post went around the net about a huge conspiracy that there was some cover-up involving nearly every government department about the disappearance of William, this photo was supposed to have been take AFTER his disappearance. Crazy!

The publication said it had accurately reported details of what it said was a major development in the police investigation into the disappearance of William Tyrrell, missing since September 2014. It said in reporting on these developments, it had taken steps to offer several opportunities to Mr Spedding and his family to address the police interest in him. Although Mr Spedding declined to comment, a close friend “had spoken on his behalf” and his comments defending Mr Spedding were prominently featured in the article. The publication also said the article was balanced and not limited to reporting on Mr Spedding as it had also reported another line of enquiry, the police search of a local caravan park.

The owner said he gave the address of the couple to police and "away they went".

Totally missed that one.

Yes the judges comments that this witness had made previous allegations against other men - is favourable to Bill's defence.

So we have this doubt presented ...

Shall be interesting what Police eventually come up with ......
