Yeah, I wondered that. Less likely to be CCTV cameras in the forest.

Could the message be another way of saying WT is deceased, as in "saved by Jesus" in the afterlife? It is a weird kind of message.

Or the opposite, where "Jesus saves us by dying in our place". The bumper sticker phrase "Jesus Saves" is something along those lines.

my best guess is this is the stump https://www.geocaching.com/geocache...ump?guid=da47ac0b-2953-4a81-97cf-bfd2a7cd714c. similar road, height of stump, and direction of cut. in the cache online log there are 2 photos of the stump shared by earlier geocachers (normal practice). both photos are taken from the other angle so no telling from this angle if it was painted at the time, but you'd imagine someone would have mentioned it in their log. the paint looks fresh so I seriously doubt when those photos were taken the graffiti was there.

If you decrypt the code it reads "Im not inside". I assume that means the cache (tin of stuff) is not inside the stump......but if one wants to get into a theory of someone leaving clues about WT.....

Good find kailee. It is the one. The owner has commented "Some misguided individual has written a note on the stump which has caused a bit of a fuss. The police became involved and removed the cache, so we will have to disable it until we can replace it."

I find it strange the writing doesn't face the track. The photographer is standing near the forest.

so is this tree very far into the forest and you would drive or bike into or easy walking distance from houses etc, just wondering if this person was a local with knowledge about william and this is their small way of telling the world what they know? probably reading too much into it!

That tree stump is creepy. I don't know why it just looks so out of place and to me it looks like there is a man standing behind it to the left hand side, just see the top of his head and eyes, of course it probably isn't. Creepy...

A special on William on A Current Affair tomorrow night. Strategy?

They are apparently doing a feature on each of the people who have been questioned.

This comes straight after that creepy message was found? Cops want to encourage people to talk?

  • #948
just caught a glimpse of the current affair advert where they show 4 people interviewed, not sure who one of them is? some older man in his driveway, wonder if its a neighbour?

She also photographed a carving on a tree at Kendall which said 'William' and 'Dad' but said she had been laughed at for suggesting it might have a connection with the boy's kidnap.

The stump is about 4.5km along a dirt track, NE of Jerusalem Rd. Drive or walk, but pretty isolated in the bush.

PS. I have the coordinates but I'm not going to publish them.

The fellow who spotted it was driving. I'm always amazed at how many people get into these isolated forests. I was near a forest in Bonny Hills over Christmas and a whole bunch of 4wds tore into the forest in the middle of the night. It happens frequently, apparently.

so the person went right in there to that spot on purpose with a spray can to send a message, creepy!

Does anybody have a photo of the tree writing that was found very early on in the search (potentially first week)?

Edit: nevermind, hadn't scrolled up to see someone posted it already! And forgot that it was a carving, not writing.

This tree, spotted on the outskirts of the town of Kendall from where William Tyrrell went missing appears to have the words 'William' and 'Dad' scratched into its bark, but police dismissed it as too old to have anything to do with the boy's abduction
Does anyone know where exactly the first tree carving was found? It would be interesting to see where the tree and the stump are in relation to eachother.

What a strange thing to write on a tree...Just the way it is worded is odd. Hopefully the person comes forward....

Hope there's a way I can watch it from the US! Would love to see this.

Just read a comment saying that the graffiti was unlikely to be done by a geocacher as the point of the game is to keep the locations well hidden.

Was the spot really just a coincidence then?

Geocachers are annoyed that the media has tied the hobby to this, but they merely reported the police comment, “Given the circumstances of William’s disappearance, police are disappointed that it has been included in a recreational game."

Either the police found out who left the message and ruled them out, or they are playing it down. Surely they wouldn't just dismiss the graffiti as being included in the game and move on? The police vs public comments are conflicting.
