The pair were members of mid-north coast grandparents' group Grandparents as Parents Again and were both spotted driving vehicles with descriptions similar to those spotted by William's mother on the day he vanished.

Bickford was driving a grey sedan at the time of William’s disappearance, and Jones was driving a white station wagon, the Daily Telegraph reports.

Yes, I never liked that creepy super-cheap-must-sell-fast house with its creepy 'for sale' pics and the teddy bear on the back of the couch. I don't like its proximity to where William went missing, I don't like that those cars were seen parked on the road in front of it, I don't like that it looked like someone was squatting there ..... or maybe hanging out there for whatever reason.

Did we ever find out who owned that house? My gut tells me DH lived very close by.

So now we know why police are interested in Bickford and Jones, but the big question for me is (and police can probably answer) why William?

What is the background? How are these two tied to Benaroon Drive - a random cul-de-sac that you don't visit without reason?

It's a question that leaves a tiny window of doubt.

It may be simply that Spedding knew the kids were going to be there. Jones knows Spedding and I have a feeling Bickford does too. I agree with the above post that they may have been scoping out the area not knowing the time of arrival and an opportunity arose.

Jones probably used the scrap metal alibi in case his phone showed pinging in that area.

I find these foggy recollections very suspicious. I can't help but think if you were innocent and being investigated you would do whatever it takes to prove that you were telling the truth.

I guess you could find old cars and other items in the bush.
A dishonest person might use it as a cover to enter people's properties and scope the place (this has happened where I work and to several other properties locally).
A dishonest person could also 'steal' scrap metal. Many items are popular including industrial water meters, new houses that are not finished have had all their pipework stolen. Plaques are a popular item to get stolen too. Plaques in graveyards perhaps??

Way, way, way back in the threads somewhere, someone found the owner info at the time of the sale, I think. It was a guy but I cannot for the life of me think of what name it could have been. We had some discussion about it too.
