This is exactly what they did 30 years ago ... check out the recent article on "The Family". Today we utilise child psychologists, social workers, technology and several decades of research to better protect kids. Just recently I've delved back into Melbourne crime in the 80s. Police report stuff like being actively involved in the Hoddle St massacre, having a shower and going back out to work, not a debrief nor counsellor in sight, let alone a good night's sleep.
But their reason for not prosecuting the case against the two minor girls was the sensitivity of the nature of the crime for the little girls back then and that is not a good enough reason as far as i'm concerned. As msm articles have mentioned it was never a question of the girl's being molested because medical records proved the case.
