You've puzzled me. I wouldn't have thought a Victorian magistrates court would have jurisdiction over something that happened in another state. Or are there other Victorian charges?

Yep, me too. The stay in proceedings is being held in the Supreme Court in Sydney in February 2017 (not that I care). NSW charges, last heard in Campbelltown Court in September:

Victorian charges (due to be heard in October 2016):

I'm explaining it arse backwards. No wonder you are confused. :giggle: sorry
Now I think I have it clear.

He wanted a permanent stay in the Campbelltown trial due to an interview being lost.

The move to have the case dismissed was made as it emerged a police interview with Mr Spedding, in which he denied the allegations, had been lost.

He wanted a suppression in the Ballarat trial until after the Campbelltown trial was over (didn't get it).

Yesterday, on the first court date for the Victorian charges, Ballarat magistrate Mark Stratmann rejected an application by Mr Spedding’s lawyer for a suppression until after the NSW trial.
He is due to stand trial in NSW in February but his lawyer, Peter O’Brien, told the court an application for a permanent stay of proceedings would be made in September.

My reason for posting the Ballarat listing was that if that matter is still pending, it can't be the same matter which has been reported in The Age today, "Uncle gets two years . . .". SouthAussie?

Yes, I agree. Unless his Ballarat case was moved up for some reason and the court list was not adjusted, which would be unusual.
And if the court doesn't want Spedding's case published, they could have not put his name in the court listing. Pretty sure that I've seen cases with unnamed perps on the court list before.

It is just weird because the timing is close, the case seems very similar ... but they expected Victorian charges involving others, so it could be loosely related, or not. There seem to be enough of these sickos out there.

I'll bring the Bundy you all bring your own mixers. Are they home made sausage rolls ? Yumm

I'm liking the thought of hiding in plain sight.

I also feel now that BS has nothing to do with it. Just happened to be flushed out during the investigation. Isn't there something like 700 persons of interest ? That leaves 699 after BS. I just don't think he's a part of it.

I have looked at that business as they have been able to sell a number of houses in the street since WT disappeared. I have run a scenario through my head about a real estate agent and photographer visiting 35 Benaroon on the morning of the disappearance to start preparing for an advertising campaign. I also found that the FGM led a number of residents at a council meeting to stop Hastings council from selling the Kew information centre. The real estate agent was one of a group of 5 concerned residents from Kew who added he thought it was a good idea that council delay their decision for a while. I wondered as an agent as well as a resident if he was interested in the local business community. Seems to come from a prominent family in the area as well.

I've wondered if the motivation for the abduction was revenge towards the FGM over some community issue. Did someone hold a grudge against her and they just happened to be in the right place, right time when opportunity presented itself? Maybe WT was snatched to give her a scare and then when they/he/she realised the gravity of what they had done, dumped him in the bush somewhere thinking he will be found?

Just ideas.

Thank you, I could imagine your scenario. :)

My thought when I again and again heard of selling houses (and "agents") after WT disappeared: What, if someone BIG wanted the street to be "empty" (all houses sold) to do whatever with this idyllic part of Kendall ...?? A scaring (and unsolved) child abduction and police all over the place for a greater period of time would perhaps help the concept of something new ...?

maybe not if it was in the first 15-20 mins before police were called, you were just quietly going about your business, oblivious to the fuss?

A "loner" wouldn't do that perhaps (asking people what is going on). I don't know if I would. And if the neighbours would know of the specific character they wouldn't wonder, IMO.

Fair bit of bad luck if he's got nothing to do with it.

They have to be homemade. I can bring some homemade tomato sauce to go with them.

Have to agree about BS at this stage, wwgy and PE, but not willing to make the call yet. We only know what we think we know; and that may be nothing.

Yep, always home-made. It's a done deal. Meet you all at my shortcut, sans brolly and cats. Wear hoodies so I can recognise you.

Sounds like Websleuths christmas party to me. Was Richie Swan holding a curtain rod?

Yup, hiding in plain sight.
I always think of domestic cats and their predatory habits. They keep their cool. Until you see them and interrupt them in their 'evil' mission. Then they'll 'pretend' to be doing 'nothing of the sort', rub around your legs and purr or take off.
___________
I walked through my shortcut last night. No worries, police station across the street, resident caretaker, neighbours clise by, not isolated. See a tall, thin young man loitering close to cars, trying hard to look like he was doing much of nothing.
Nup. Hoodie pulled up over his face on a warmish, dry night, kept his chin far enough down so I couldn't see his face, and moving from one foot to another. I know in some suburbs that's normal behaviour but not in mine.
Ignored him and kept walking, practised a few innocent baseball swings with my big, folded up brolly and promptly called the cops when I got home. That kid was up to no good 'hiding in plain sight'. Only thing is he didn't keep his cool when I walked by. No reason for him to be scared of me (on the surface anyway) so why so nervous buddy?
That was me!!! Cops turned up, took my weed and said "look out for the cat lady, she'll kebab ya with a brollie".

Imagine sittin there minding your own business with four rooms of hydroponics - 6 cop cars pull up out front with dogs and a truck full of horses

Yep, that would be a tad freaky *starts frantically flushing hydroponics down the loo*
