Yes, Colin says this (below)
I have also read elsewhere that grandma called him in the morning, he didn't pick up, he rang back at around 2, and was told that they couldn't talk now by William's mum - and for some reason I believe that, perhaps because it is not what Colin or Spedding's son said.

"He said that, when Mr Spedding got in touch with the family on Friday, the day that William went missing, he initially couldn't get a hold of the grandmother.

"He's rung them again because he couldn't get them in the morning," Colin said.

"Then [William's] mother answered it and said, 'Oh I'm afraid, look I'm afraid you can't come and do it at the moment - we will give you a call when we can.' "

6:42 Williams mother said in the 60 minutes interview it was she that phoned BS that morning and could not get through to him.

We don't have a huge history in Australia to draw from?? Give me a break! As an historian I can send you many, many links to historical cases of kidnapping in Australia over the last two hundred years, one of whom was my own ancestor. I won't waste my time and yours in doing so though. My thought processes in regard to William's disappearance does not include American statistics at all and I'm entitled to that opinion. If you think it's common sense to do so, that's your prerogative.

I appreciate Bohemian posting the article and it was an interesting read but there are quite a few things that IMO would have to be discounted in relation to our Australian culture and environment.

That's a shame...... I would be very interested in our (historical kidnappings) in Australian history....

Welfare to help search for William Tyrell, missing NSW boy
18 September 2014

NSW police have brought Family and Community Services officers into their investigation of the disappearance of three-year-old William Tyrell, admitting the possibility he was abducted holds the only real chance he is still alive.
“We are working with NSW Police and the family and are doing all we can to assist in this matter,” a FACS spokeswoman said. Asked why FACS had become involved, she said: “Police are leading this investigation … child protection is a fundamental role and responsibility of FACS and it’s in the best interest of the community for us to work alongside other agencies.”

Just another of the early articles.

KIDNAPPING AND ABDUCTION

There was a 5.8% decrease in the number of kidnapping/abduction victims in Australia, from 638 in 2012 to a four year low of 601 in 2013. In Australia:

§ The kidnapping/abduction victimisation rate decreased to a four year low of 2.6 victims per 100,000 persons;

§ Females accounted for a slightly larger proportion of all kidnapping/abduction victims (57% or 344 victims);

§ Nearly one in three victims of kidnapping/abduction (32% or 191 victims) was aged 14 years or under;

§ Street/footpath was the most common location for kidnapping/abduction to occur (43% or 258 victims); and

§ 45% of all kidnapping/abduction investigations (268 victims) were finalised by police within 30 days.

Not really historical but thought it was worth a look.

RS and Dear Ole Cole...... nothing they have said has been proved. Where is the people screaming from the rafters that BS has been railroaded.....he was at the café...he was at the school .....what? No one?.....not one!!!......surely someone by now would have come forward to get their mug in the media.....the silence is deafening...

absolutely Puggle, surely surely.. Initially we heard what a wonderful man he was etc etc ... But seems now no one saw him anywhere that day ... Or maybe they did and that's what lead to the police interest ?

On a totally off thread topic - can anyone help me understand why suddenly I am having to log in all the time ??

So if Mum phoned BS that morning then his phone should have pinged somewhere, shouldn't it have? Or do you have to answer it?
Wonder what time that call was made?

6:42 Williams mother said in the 60 minutes interview it was she that phoned BS that morning and could not get through to him.

She said she phoned, and left a message - wonder if that is what BS deleted? His phone records would show if/when he listened to that message.

I had the impression that call came quite early, he was just getting up for the day, in the shower or something, so at Bonny Hills. But I can't remember what I read and it might just be imagination.

William Tyrrell poster plea: It’s now or never, say parents
LIA HARRIS, The Sunday Telegraph

PUT it up “anywhere and everywhere” — that’s what William Tyrrell’s desperate family is urging Sunday Telegraph readers to do with an *official campaign poster in today’s paper designed to help bring their little boy home.

“One of those posters might be the catalyst that someone thinks ‘I think I need to do something now’,” William’s dad said.

“This has got to the point where it’s now or never.”

Thanks for posting the link soso. I love the third and fifth sub paragraphs. I think they should read:

'More than two in three victims of kidnapping/abduction (68% or 410 victims) was aged 14 years or over;'

and

'55% of all kidnapping/abduction investigations (333 victims) were not finalised by police within 30 days.'

Lies, damned lies and statistics, huh?

Hi Crabby, please excuse my ignorance but would you please advise what's a 'compensation pit' ?

I think I heard some possible rumour also of an old well in the area, but I don't give any credence to this even if it and pits etc exist, as SURELY those things would have been thoroughly checked very early in the investigation.
I assume that absolutely every hole in the ground was identified and completely checked. However there is a small possibility that something can be missed. For example in a recent Herts England investigation of a completely different sort of case, a reportedly very complete search was conducted both above ground and under ground. A few weeks later a member of the public happened to say "have you checked the ....", and it transpired that one hole in the ground had been missed by the original search.

I think here you are referring the H.Bailey case ?
The septic tank had been investigated and drained with no results. Later a neighbour just happened to mention there was a "well" under concrete, under a building in the garden and her body and that of her dog were discovered there. Tragic case.
I doubt this is the case with William but of course every possible circumstance must be covered.
Absolutely everything has to be considered until the answer is found.

The mother of missing toddler William Tyrrell has made a heartbreaking appeal to help bring her little boy home - even if he is dead.

Her plea comes as authorities announced a record $1 million reward for anyone who could lead police to the recovery of the three-year-old boy suspected of being abducted from his grandmother's yard in Kendall on the Mid North Coast of NSW two years ago.

And his parents, who cannot be named for legal reasons, are desperately seeking for answers as they urge anyone involved in his disappearance to come forward so they could move on from the ordeal - and give them closure.

'To the person, even if William is dead, even if somebody killed him - deliberately or if it was an accident - and you know where he is, he's got to come home,' his mother told The Sunday Telegraph.

Hypothetically, what if knowledge of the location of a septic system component in the garden was lost when FGF passed away, and what if it was not easy to spot, for example if it had been cosmetically hidden by planting or turfing, and then become further overgrown?

Interesting that FM mentions "even if it was an ACCIDENT" in her latest desperate plea in this Daily Mail report.
I honestly feel that we will never know the truth about what has really happened to William.
I also feel that this $1,000,000 reward will have no effect on bringing William home (sorry).....It has been too long now, sadly.....MOO:tears:
