I wonder where Brendan was at the time of William's birth and production of the birth certificate. Was he perhaps incarcerated?

Under the various State name registration guidelines, a child born to unmarried parents will be registered with the mother's surname, unless both parents agree to the child being registered with the father's surname.

Yes, I wondered that when I read the Supreme Court descision. No mention of ‘Julian’s’ father at all.

I also wonder if ‘Julian’ first came to the notice of FaCS when his biological father was incarcerated.

William would be proud of his biological father today. I hope, one day, whatever the circumstances, they will be reunited with each other. Somewhere out there . . .

The court was told he accepted the charges, and that he would be receiving a custodial sentence.
“He has approached an employer while in custody and on release will have work as an excavator,” Collins’ lawyer said told Magistrate Crittenden.
“He has reconnected with his mother and grandmother and will be going to live with them and only if he’s off all illicit substances.
“He tells me he plans to work, use the money to go back to the psychiatrist and stay off illicit substances.”

Lets hope so Bo.
At least he seems to planning for his future.
Jobs are so hard to come by. He is really fortunate to have an excavator job lined up on his release. Which of course we don't know when that will be yet.

It's pretty standard to tell that sort of story to the court. Your Honour, I made some mistakes, I was under pressure, but I'm getting my life together (job, residence, therapy) so these mistakes won't be happening in future. From a defence counsel's perspective, you separate as firmly as possible the sad person who did the crimes from the new, hopeful, promising lad or lass standing there in court.

Not to say it's lies, but for example the job offer is likely to have been arranged for the purpose of putting it before the court.

‘The proof will be in the pudding.’, JLZ. My support for Brendan is conditional.

Yep. Pretty much what I was thinking when I read it. I hope I am wrong, because as a mother it would be heart breaking to see your child in this situation, but it is a common thing for a defence lawyer to spout this stuff.

My inner cynic is also fully operational. It is often heartbreaking for family members to watch their addicted loved one ‘self-destruct’ but healthy boundaries are required:

Monetarily; yes. There are also many. many ‘quiet achievers’ who accept no financial recompense for their labours.

Yes it is.

Which is why I wondered if the same but less publicised approach was used last time.

In the more than three years since William’s abduction, Brendan Collins has become a drug addict and been to jail, spending time in Parklea Correctional Centre.
When he was released from prison, Natalie helped her son, ensuring he went to see doctors and was prescribed medication.
But Brendan fell back into ice.
Natalie believes his friendship with Karlie is no longer viable.
He moved into Karlie’s spare room, while she had boyfriends visit the house.
“He was gone for four or five months. He was working but Karlie would go off with friends when he came home.
“He was like a pound puppy with [her kids].
“But he was using ice. He grew a big beard, his teeth were rotten.
“I could see the despair.”

Hopefully this pattern of addiction/criminality, combined with the enabling behaviour of others, will cease. For his children’s sakes. Only time will tell.

BC can either sink further into the pit and he might even die doing so, or he can pull himself up by the boot straps and challenge his own strengths.
He has to above all else do it for himself.
He has no children that i'm aware of?

Lurking on WS again, I have a few questions I'd like to ask folks to weigh in on. Do we know whether KT ever worked with (or otherwise knew) Rachael, childcare worker at Killara Beehive? Secondly, I am seeking information on a minor traffic accident or loss of control of a stolen car that involved the Tyrrell boys (presumably Ashley, Tom, Tricky Ricky and co) some years ago. It occurred in Sydney (likely north shore area) and one joyrider managed to run away from the police attending the scene. The intel is vague, sorry. If anyone can help with this, I'd appreciate it.

Im free. No sorry i can only tell you that KT allegedly worked in child care also from this article: http://www.smh.com.au/news/national...o-battle/2007/11/15/1194766869667.html?page=2
I have no knowledge at all about a car accident.

Much has been made about who was taking drugs. KT, BC, various siblings etc.
Why does everyone assume that a drug taker or addict has to be a younger member of the family?
There seems to be very little comment/info regarding the maternal grandparents apart from a brief mention about KT's father living in Ryde.

Yes, people have to want to change. Wanting a better life for their children can be a motivating force.

BBM. Not even William? Because he is presumed deceased in some circles? Or because he is/was under the care of the Minister? As for William’s siblings the article, referenced below, states:

Downward spiral of William Tyrrell’s father Brendan collins
http://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/re...s/news-story/bd13defba733d0d3005eeefed23a07d7

‘WILLIAM Tyrrell’s father has revealed for the first time how his life has unravelled since his toddler son was abducted.

Brendan Collins has laid bare his descent into drugs, crime and mental problems following the kidnap and likely murder of William in 2013.

After Collins appeared at Silverwater Correctional Centre on Wednesday, news.com.au can reveal harrowing details of his life since his missing son became the subject of Australia’s biggest manhunt.

Collins looked strikingly like his son at his first public court appearance since William became a household name.

‘He had hoarded rubbish and children’s toys and “raged in his room” about protecting his children.’

’In between periods of homelessness, Collins has stayed in the spare room of the home occupied by Karlie and the former couple’s two children, who are the younger siblings of William.’

‘“He is the father of William Tyrrell who is missing and has been suffering a degree of trauma.’

More inaccuracies in MSM? I thought that was the preserve of SM. Maybe you could email news.com.au and request corrections to the article. After all, accuracy is important in reporting as rumours do grow legs.

That’s true. Often dysfunction in families is generational. That is, unless someone is a catalyst for change.

In reference to the part of my post you bolded and then anwered with emojis. BC effectively has no children. WT & his sister were taken into state care supposedly until adult age of 18. The way it's going he will probably never get custody back. If he gets clean from drugs and stays out of trouble for a few years and gets it together, he might be able to see L again if it is in fact his child? Whether WT is ever recovered is very questionable.
Then KT has two other biological kids. Is there any proof they are BC's kids? I haven't seen that yet, but if they are it requires validation here or it is just rumor.
If KT has any chance at all of getting her daughter back, that is also in question, far as we know. And if she is now properly estranged from BC it will be a matter of determination by whomever as to what type of parental custody BC will have with KT's other children if they are in fact his. All IMO

As you say not much comment. Not much in msn, other than dad lived at Ryde and
Alana Smiths primal connection with a woman she has never met.
She …feels her loss, that primal loss, through no fault of her own,' Ms Smith said.

'The only thing she did wrong was being young, with no support of her own… I feel for that young woman and I have never even met her.'

But where did that information come from and by whom? I don't necessarily believe everything i read in msm because it has been contradictory information before, as msm is prone to print IMO.

  • #1,020
And still none of any of this has anything that has brought WT's whereabouts to date, so it's just useless really until if & when LE can tie any of the whole case together and make an arrest/s, and find the missing child.
I don't care about these adults the media likes to sensationalise about because the bio's & FP's have been cleared. As for the rest whatever.
