I wonder how she would have known about the historical crimes. One would think that something as terrible as that would want to be kept under wraps by the parents, and not let any of the in-laws know.

But if what you say is the case, and it very well may be imo, then evidently someone in the family is speaking of the abuse ... speaking of it enough that Margaret's kids know about it, and the in laws know about it.

And this would have been spoken of before he was arrested for the historical crimes, naturally. If Margaret's son's partner was the informer. Sounds as though at least some of the relatives think he is capable of crimes against children.

I did think it was interesting, though, that some of Spedding's children were so supportive of him, with regard to William, but completely clammed up and would not comment when the historical charges came about.

Why not the former child victims themselves? They are sort of Spedding's relatives, aren't they? Steps? Or are they known to live elsewhere?

Hard to say. Though I remember an article or two where it said they had no comment to make (or something like that). One would have thought they could have at least said that their father would be opposing the charges. Because it kind of left some wondering in people's minds. Some questions.

But perhaps they had been advised to not speak to the media at all, for fear they might have said the wrong thing or let their emotions get a hold of them.

I could definitely see the former child victims speaking up, when William disappeared and Spedding was meant to go to the house that morning. They may have survived their ordeals and be dealing with that, but they wouldn't want others to go through it, and a possible perp to get away yet again. imo

They may also be aware of incidences when Margaret has covered for Spedding, and/or supported him with everything that he claims, even if it is not true. That would be enough for me to step in and step up, if I were them.

It’s just over a week to go until Karlie’s next scheduled appearance at Burwood Court and BS’ argument, presumably for a tort of defamation against the DM and Nationwide News in the NSW Supreme Court. I wonder where that will take us, if anywhere.
