I needed to challenge one item on a credit card transaction and I accidentally destroyed the receipt. The credit card company was able to retrieve an exact copy of the receipt. This was several months after the transaction--I thought it would be out of time, but they sorted it out for me.

That is good news. That means that the police would have been able to subpeona a copy of said receipt, especially if the cafe was unable to locate the original in the piles of receipts they must keep for 5 years.

Computer illiterate maybe

Ahh but he/someone was cluey enough to delete his call logs.

Police seized his telephone records and those of William’s grandmother as they have checked his statement that he had a missed call from the grandmother that morning and tried to call back but could not get through.

A friend of Mr Spedding’s said yesterday that police had questioned Mr Spedding about “why the phone calls were no longer in the call log on his mobile phone.”

Mr Spedding said he then went to Cafe Buzz, 50m from his office in Bold St, Laurieton, where he had a coffee with his wife. The friend said Mr Spedding said he had paid for the coffees via EFTPOS and had obtained a bank statement with the transaction recorded.

Mr Spedding has told police he then walked with his wife across the road to Laurieton Public School to attend a school assembly in which one of his grandchildren got an award.

It is understood Mr Spedding has asked a woman who was taking photographs at the assembly for a copy of the pictures.

My credit card company might have got the copy from the merchant. I assumed it would have been from a computer system though, not from a pile of paper.

Makes me wonder who he deleted the call logs for. The police ... or Margaret and Colin.
Surely everyone realises that the police can find out the exact usage of your phone.
But Margaret and Colin can't find that out.

Any ideas about the call log thing? I've been playing with the thought that Spedding might have switched phones--dumped and denied the one he was using that day--but I can't see how that would work.

Did your copy of the receipt give the exact time of the transaction, as in was it a copy from the merchant?

Yes, it appeared identical to the one I destroyed.

If this was the case, I guess it also doesn't mean that his coffee wasn't in a takeaway cup for him to take out on the way to a job.

The cops are smart and even tho Laurieton is a sleepy village there would be a camera or two around. Maybe driving in towards the town or a shop on the Main Street might have picked up their cars and how many heads onboard.

If it’s shown he was there then why hasn’t he been cleared?
I’d be shouting from the rooftops to clear my name.
He did a YouTube then why not show proof of being at the school. I don’t get it.

A different entity I do work for, a cafe, keeps his eftpos receipts bundled by day with the till printout also bundled in that day, with rubber bands wrapped around them. It wouldn't be too hard to find a receipt, if needed. Glad we have never had to do that though, there are hundreds and thousands of them, all stored for 5 years in cardboard boxes.

I would have thought they'd fade to nothing in 5 years.

Surprisingly the print on his remains for quite a while, as they are bundled, not moved around, and kept in the dark. My personal ones at home seem to deteriorate much faster.
I think the common deterioration is one reason why the tax dept started allowing (a few years ago) bank statements as proof of small business purchases, as opposed to requiring actual receipts.
So many small receipts are misplaced before they get to the office, or the ink has been rubbed off them.

Cafes and such need to keep eftpos and till receipts, though, in case they are audited. They need to be able to show the flow from customer purchase to customer payment to till takings to bank deposits and business spending.

Welcome interested. Yes are you referring to the previous post about when BS was questioned about the ‘S’ missing he told them to go away.

I dont know how to quote but I will figure it out, replying to South Aussie...yep,or even Colin himself.

I don't think it was Colin who is the friend that attended the assembly with Margaret. There are some links that - when put together - make me think that it was a woman.

He told Daily Mail Australia Mr Spedding said he had also attended the presentation with a family friend who was taking photos.

Inspector Jubelin said investigators gained new information from the search, but failed to reach the breakthrough they had been hoping for.

Police looked at almost 700 persons of interest, conducted hundreds of interviews and gathered more than 4,000 pieces of evidence, but Williams' disappearance remains a mystery.
William Tyrrell inquest looks likely as deputy coroner visits search site for missing boy

Perhaps this is why the case is going to a Coronial Inquest soon?
This info. is fairly recent only a few months ago.

Proving he was at the assembly is the most important thing BS has had to do since William went missing.
Such a simple thing really with all those other people around.
If he can prove it, Im sure a media outlet would leap at the opportunity for an exclusive interview.
I’d also be asking the police to admit that they know I was at the Assembly. I dont think that would be an unreasonable request.
I’d also be shouting from the rooftops if i was innocent.
Thats all he really has to do, if he wants to longer be a POI.
Not a squeak from him though...
