AJ gets to wait for 6 months which surprised me. Thought they would have tried to slot him in.

Maybe whatever has come to hand this week and the suspension of inquest is because they have either made an arrest or received further incriminating information that puts them on the person who is involved? Maybe thats why certain witnesses not called, just like BS didnt testify long, they may have new information that puts someone else in the firing line? Just a thought.

Wait.... Didn't give his police statement until after 3 years when William went missing?

I thought it was like a year - more bad reporting?

It seemed to me as if reporters were reporting this 2017 statement as being this Chapman fellow's choice - however, it has been said that he told police in March 2015. It would have been up to police to take his official statement as soon as possible, just like it was up to them to take FD's statement, and PS's statement, etc. .. all of which seemed to be much delayed from what the public would have expected under the circumstances. imo.

Well, this really sucks the big one.. but at the same time it seems to cautiously give some kind of hope that something positive is in the works. And perhaps especially since they moved it even further than the original talk of 'November in Taree', which could mean they might feel they may need that additional 4 months to ensure some kind of action. The thing I don't get, is why it would take a coroner's inquest, and especially this one which seemed so disorganized with so many days wasted, to have certain things investigated further. Surely SFR has been diligent in investigating every lead, albeit sometimes well after the point when many leads *should* have been followed up (imho)? Why might it take the coroner to advise the police what needs further investigation?

I think that the police always hoped that the inquest/Coroner would compel 'someone' to speak of something (otherwise they would face contempt of court charges) ... something that they had not been able to get that 'someone' to speak of.

Perhaps amongst all that suppressed testimony, or perhaps within those closed court sessions, 'someone' has been compelled to speak of something - so now there is fresh information that requires investigation.

Perhaps, finally, the police have some information that they have been hoping for.

Mr Chapman said he knew William’s foster grandmother, who was at the house on Benaroon Drive when William went missing, “but I didn’t get on very well with her”.
The Australian understands they had an argument many years ago about the correct propagation of flowers, but that wasn’t why Mr Chapman didn’t approach police.

Well, one thing is for sure, a Land Cruiser has quite high sides. Mr Chapman would only have seen the top part of the small child. Only the top of what the child was wearing.

Another model is the troop carrier style has the back seats that run north to south (like the old style landrover). I am not sure if I have ever seen a beige troopy though. I think they are always white?

I think there was some question at first as to if it was his neighbour (or someone visiting his neighbour) as her child had a similiar suit. I understand him not wanting to go to the house and perhaps not even to Benaroon Drive where it was no doubt chaos, but surely a phone call to police would have been more sensible than wandering around the club and passing the info on second hand?

I always hoped so too however after the $1 million reward and intense investigations and media I, unfortunately, think he would have been too high of a risk in being recognised

Possible links between a witness who testified and Ole Col via the same dart league. It has made us wonder about other community-based links, and if those links have affected any testimony.

Was there anyone from here in the courtroom when the seemingly swift decision was made to defer to March 2020?

I'm just wondering if there was a note passed to the judge or it was adjourned for a short break and it was after the break it was announced etc..

You know I’ve thought about this whether immunity should be granted to someone who knows what happened to William but they didn’t personally harm him. It is a tough one I hope William’s loved ones would get a say in this decision if it were ever to happen.

Surely a reanactment of the speeding cars was done to see how possible Mr Chapman’s vision would have been that day. Wouldn’t be hard. Could use a dummy with a Spider-Man suit .

10.30 correct roughly missing by 000 call
Driven out north on benaroon drive to attempt taking back streets
1045 speeding down laurel st (after taking an extra 6 minutes going north and anxious as your back near where u started)
Trip being approx 11 minutes in total and fitting sighting on laurel street.

That makes a lot of sense. I believe the abduction was probably ~10.30, but if it was 10.05-10.15, the delay could be explained by walking instead of driving some of the way, as others have mentioned. Either way, I think it’s feasible that Mr Chapman saw the cars at 10.45.
