It would also be good to know if Savage is “incriminating” himself ??? Or is he actually talking about someone else in the community ??? Like is he the one person that saw something ???
Who knows???
I guess we are not going to find out at this stage .... but I think we all want to know !

IMO - to protect people on the Sexual Offenders Register - and all the recordings are of GJ and PS, they would have to be talking about someone else. The Mind Boggles.

I'd like to know if they expected him to be confiding in (or receiving confidences from) anyone in particular. In 2017. Who?

I would like to know when and for what length of time the covert operation of PS phones and home was granted.

The inquest also heard Mr Savage has been involved in a number of interviews with police in relation to William Tyrrell's disappearance in September 2014, March 2016 and August 2017.
Neighbour asked what he saw on day William Tyrrell vanished

Police investigating the disappearance of William Tyrrell placed a Spider-Man suit into bushland several years after the three-year-old vanished and set up cameras to see if a person of interest would find the garment and report it.

The surveillance was revealed in Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday after media outlets including the Herald fought an attempt by the NSW Police Commissioner to suppress the information.

Ouch... that doesn't sound good for Jubes. Maybe the conversation could be better heard on his mobile recording than on the covert listening device?

It does seem that this will be his defence for at least a portion of the recordings?

The prosecutor said Mr Jubelin will be asserting the poor quality of surveillance recordings meant there was an "operational need" for the mobile phone recordings. But Mr Hogan said there was "no urgency about any of the conversations" with Mr Savage, which could have been delayed to organise a surveillance warrant.

and "the surveillance was beset by issues including loud static in audio recordings from Mr Savage's home"

Is it really up to Mr Hogan to decide if there was "Urgency" or not? He's not a trained investigator.

Crown prosecutor Philip Hogan said police placed a Spider-Man suit similar to the one William was wearing onto a bush track on July 26, 2017.

The track was frequented by Paul Savage, who had become a person of interest in the case four months earlier. Mr Savage lived on Benaroon Drive in Kendall, the street William vanished from, and was at home on the morning the child disappeared.

Mr Hogan said cameras filmed and photographed Mr Savage, 75, who reported the clothing to police the next day.

So I guess he became a POI around March 2017... ?

I take it these are the opening statements--the prosecutor is saying what his argument is--and then he will need to call evidence to substantiate that position.

I know hey, but he is the prosecutor... hopefully the magistrate makes that decision?

It's a crock of bull & a witch-hunt, the whole thing IMO

I guess I'm super dumb because I don't understand what the spiderman suit thing was supposed to achieve? wouldn't reporting it to police be what most people would do if they came across that in the bush in the area? I don't get it and would love enlightenment.

if he was involved - maybe he'd be less inclined to report it? just a hunch - MOO

edit to add - just so he doesn't call more attention to himself perhaps?

IMO it was to see his reaction. The camera's would have picked up his response, surprised, shocked, worried or just dumbfounded.

If he hadn't of reported it there would be a problem.

Thanks to everyone who has kept us up-to-date with tweets and articles from MSM today. I really appreciate it.

PS response was a bit slow imo. He reported it the following day.
Did he leave it right there on the path overnight? Or did he carry it home and think about what to do overnight?
Wonder how he went leading the police back to the location where he found the suit? Did he remember the exact location and time he came across it? Or was he a bit forgetful, confused and disorientated.

Does anyone remember what was happening in the case around March 2017?

From your link:

‘Ms Cunneen said the Police Commissioner's application for suppression was designed to stop an exploration of the failures in the Tyrrell investigation, including resourcing, technical competence and management.’

I wonder if the application was made to hide possible embarrassment on behalf of the NSWPF.

Thanks all, seems obvious when you say it but I just had no clue. Y'all are right, a perpetrator would probably be a bit flighty about finding it.

I think about that time was when Mr Spedding’s historical charges / court case was starting ..
Also I think it was when the public was starting to be aware that William was a foster child ....
Also around that time there was discussion about the Foster Parents home extensions ....
Thread #26 is that time period ... if anyone wants to have a read ....
