You would need to ask the Prosecutors that are, in essence, charging him. It's all been their evidence so far, and it will continue tomorrow morning according to tweets. The Defence hasn't even started yet.

Speaking of the Defence - I wonder if they have access to Police recordings. There could be information on those tapes that provides GJ with his reasons of operational needs etc.

I thought they were rapping things up tomorrow? Not much time for the defense is there? Although i guess it depends what they have got?

The hearing has been adjourned until tomorrow. The prosecution expects to wrap up its case in the morning. Jubelin’s defence team will then present their case.

Finally we get to hear from GJ

"The weight you bear." Gary Jubelin on not solving the disappearance of William Tyrrell.

After more than three decades of putting away bad guys, homicide detective Gary Jubelin jokes that he may meet them all again. In jail.

Speaking with journalist Jana Wendt at the Sydney Crime Writers Festival on Sunday, the father-of-two said he considered his inability to solve the William Tyrrell case a “personal failure”.

“But that is the weight that you bear,” The Australian reported him saying. “I will carry that until the day I die, if we don’t find out what happened to William Tyrrell.”

He felt he’d let down both William’s biological parents and his foster parents, whose care he was in when he went missing about 10.15am on September 12, 2014, and worried that in his absence, the case would lose momentum.

I just checked GM and cannot even see which house in
Ellendale had a pool. It must be well hidden, I can see a pool 27 Benaroon maybe 9 Benaroon and my eyesight prevails any further. If there is a house on Ellendale with a pool I wonder if it was a "known" pool that might not have been fenced whilst others on Benaroon were known to be fenced. Even though it is the law, a couple days ago I was driving through rural a country town and saw an above ground pool sitting next to a house with no fence whatsoever. I was gobsmacked.

Its actually not that far either from their house, interesting they chose to drive there.

And if they knew of such pool did they call the homeowners first to ask them to check the pool before driving down there.

13 maybe?

Good catch. I think I read that too just recently in the thread. Then I guess they weren't home just after 9am after FD had left, when FM was in the driveway with FGM, and the foster daughter and W too, I believe, when she saw the car drive past and then turn around in #52's driveway and the daughter asked 'who's that', and they met one another's glance, etc? But yet the Crabbes did say they heard a vehicle they thought sounded like the postie's vehicle, later.. but I can't remember what time? So I guess it couldn't have been that same vehicle. Seems there were many vehicles and people in the street that morning. imo.

Officers spent months interviewing hundreds of the 1140 people living in the mid-north coast town with a list of set questions before making more targeted inquiries with so-called persons of interest.

Police asked about each person's movements on the morning William disappeared, how they learned of his disappearance and whether they, or others in their home, helped in the search, Det Sgt Beacroft said.

Residents were also asked to detail all deliveries and repairs to their home over a one-year period.

During those inquiries, a couple living on Benaroon Drive shared that they'd heard a car going towards the foster grandmother's home and turning around about the time William went missing.

Sharelle and Peter Crabb said they were on their back verandah when heard the car about 10.05am, the inquest was told.

Det Sgt Beacroft said though 150 metres away from the foster grandmother's home, the Crabbs could likely hear a car in the quiet street.

Some more info to support fact cars could be heard by Crabbs on quiet street:
The Crabbs were on their veranda at the back of the house, but Mr Craddock told the inquest “residents of Benaroon Drive would notice there were cars if there were cars”.

Asked if the street was “very quiet and noise travels”, Sgt Beacroft said Benaroon Drive was “extremely quiet”.

Asked also if she had been “sceptical” abut the Crabbs’ evidence, Sgt Beacroft said she had “done a lot of work with them”, investigating the claim including visiting them at home in June 2016.

It had been a cold day and the windows and doors at 51 Benaroon Drive were closed when Sharelle Crabb said to Sgt Beacroft: “Listen, do you hear anything?”

When Sgt Beacroft did listen, she then “heard the sound of a car coming up Benaroon Drive”, although she hadn’t heard it when Mrs Crabb did “two to three seconds before I did”.

Thanx doc, I find it kinda strange that they headed by car to Ellendale when there are other houses on Benaroon with pools.
I’d be checking my house and surroundings first.
I’ve thought about that one too.. i do hope police have exhausted all avenues re Mr n Mrs Crabb
