William’s foster mother told the court Supt Cook told her “you are not the only families of victims” and “William is not our only case”. She has previously spoken about this alleged conversation on the Where’s William Tyrrell podcast.

William’s foster mother told the court Supt Cook then told her William’s case would go to Unsolved Homicide. She told the court she responded “you can’t send it to Unsolved” and he replied “it’s going there”.

Such a callous way to speak to a grieving family :(

The defence has finished making their case and the hearing has been adjourned until tomorrow for closing arguments.

Does that go for long normally, is there a time frame

After closing arguments the Magistrate will probably give a date/time that he will give his judgement.

Not sure in this kind of Trial? But the Magistrate will make a decision on it if it's a non jury trial i would imagine.

Very distressing for a parent/caregiver to hear the police speak in such a dismissive manner. He needs to take a course on how to deal sympathetically with grieving parents and NEVER make his list of jobs, the grieving parent's concern. He's got to think, what if it were his child? :(

Not enough police resources i would think?
If we go by this trial, it appears not, what a waste of time, imo. This has compromised not only William's case but the face of NSW police, I hope a few are regretting taking this course of action, there were other options.

I thought he said 'you are not the ONLY families or victims of crime'? Or perhaps he said both? She clarifies later on that they felt they were his parents so Im guessing its not a typo.
“I’m thinking: I can believe you are saying this to his parents. We see ourselves as his parents, we raised him.”

Isn't it the Coroners decision if she thinks the case needs to be investigated more?

Well that is what I thought.
I can't believe he first introduced himself and informed of this information at the inquest. How long had he been head of homicide?
