where would a person live at the kendall showgrounds? sleep rough, caravan?

Most showgrounds have camping areas. Depending on the location and rules, you can stay there for varying periods. I'd expect that if he lived there, he might have been a caretaker.

i just googled kendall showgrounds accommodation and 68 places came up,
royal hotel, a motel, camping ground etc etc so i guess not necessarily in the actual showgrounds,
so saying someone lived in kendal sg could just be that area within km radius?
not that it matters, just curious if its a local meeting place for people sharing their interests?
