If there is a media gag, it is only on the names of all of the parents involved, there is no gag on theorizing. The rules on this thread are vastly different from other threads here on WS, and not just relating to naming the parents.

I guess that's the difference when there is no media gag on discussing the people involved...

Makes this case such a difficult one. I wonder how much more would be known and understood by the general public if it wasn't for that. Maybe it would have helped track him down.

I hope the report of a car going down the fire trail wasn't the only thing that sparked the search. If so, I worry that police still don't have much to go on :(

The witness took months to reveal this information? Why?

Maybe when they heard of Spedding being raided they thought what they had seen in Bonny Hills was suddenly relevant?

Interesting that now they are quoting Detective Willing rather than Jubelin. (Quoted from a a post above)

Head of the homicide squad, Detective Superintendent Michael Willing, said anyone who has information on William's disappearance should listen to his mother's plea and do the right thing and come forward.

"They have laid bare their feelings in a heart-wrenching plea for the community's help and are doing everything in their power to seek the safe return of their little boy." Detective Superintendent Willing said.

but why come out now and make this plea? why after seven long months?
do the parents and police really think hes still alive?
wouldnt you plea for his safe return on the second day when there is more chance of a safe return?

I wonder if the timing of this is planned? I would have thought the appeal would have been more effective in the first few days?

Exactly. I've said it before, I'll say it again - I really think they have no clue what has happened.

And sorry, but I don't believe this whole 'we have received recently information that there may be a pedophile ring in the area'. That is old news.

Unless this whole thing has been done to put pressure on someone, I can't understand why it has been done now. Obviously they have a lot of information we are not privy to, but they said last month they were searching for a body. Now they think he might be alive?

Just watched the press conference. Interesting that the police say they have a pretty good idea what happened that day. I wonder if that means specifics or more generally.

  • #650
I wonder if LE know he is alive.. as in maybe they've had a tip off and they are giving the person responsible the chance to come forward and sort this out on their own or they don't know who it is/where they are and they are hoping this will scare them?

The family have been cleared, yet one issue in William's threads is that folks keep steering back to suggesting that the family was involved in William's disappearance. I'd think that would apply in all Websleuths threads, being victim friendly and all.

Gee he's a cutie!

Ohhhhh .... they have received 'recent specific information' about a pedophile ring. Not going to go into it, don't want to compromise the investigation. The investigation is moving at a very fast pace. It was appropriate to release this information today.

Oh no :( that doesn't sound good. Please by some miracle be ok little man.

Was that info from the article? I only had time to skim read.

 Yes, Ch7 just said (again) that they want to stress that William's parents HAVE NO INVOLVEMENT in the investigation, they just cannot show their faces due to complicated legal reasons.

That poor mum's voice is heartbreaking. 'William is not reaching his milestones, no kindy, no preschool ..... '. I cannot imagine their daily torment. :(

WR's mother said:

“I had a vision in my head … that somebody reached over and I sort of feel like they’ve gone ‘clump’ on his shoulders, picked him up and moved him on.”

I wonder what she was picturing? When she says "reached over" I picture a fence or something that is looked over.

But where would that be? Is there a fence close enough? Or something similar?

It's good to listen to a mothers intuition. I imagine the police have been all over this. For us it's an annoyingly vague quote that we can't ask more about.

(note: it's me saying fence.... she might not be suggesting anything of the sort)

No, the police had a presser which I just saw on Ch7 TV morning show. They are also replaying portions of it frequently.

Missing three-year-old William Tyrell may have been a victim of a “paedophile ring”, police say.

“One of those lines of inquiry relates to people we suspect being involved in a pedophile ring,” Homicide Squad Commander Mick Willing told reporters on Friday.
(Article says 'expect', detective actually clearly says 'suspect' so I edited. Hopefully the presser will be up soon for others to listen to.)

Able to speak publicly for the first time since William disappeared, his mother wept as she said: “If somebody has him and if he is alive, I want him to be safe. I want him to be feeling loved and I want someone to be looking after him.

“To imagine that something else is going on — we can’t live a life like that,” she said.
