Reality show contestant Joel Betts has lost his appeal against the minimum 11-year sentence he received for stabbing his girlfriend 20 times in the back in 2010.
The attack in their Sydney apartment lasted over an hour and happened when Samantha Holland went there to collect her belongings after they broke up. Betts appeal was based on the fact his girlfriend managed to stab him back once and he was left with a permanent bowel injury, as well as other injuries caused while stabbing her. The judge decided he only had himself to blame.
