The bodies of a 34-year-old woman of Syrian descent and her 10-year-old daughter has been found in freezers in an apartment. They had been reported missing on 25 July by the woman's cousin who lives in Germany.

A 55-year-old Austrian man, a colleague of the woman, and his 53-year-old brother has been arrested, being held on "strong suspicion of murder". The colleague told the police after the woman had gone missing that she and her daughter had gone on an extended trip to Turkey to visit her parents. The 55-year-old has sent messages from the missing woman's phone, including a resignation letter to her employer, as well as messages to him. He has also transferred a four-figure sum to himself.

Ah, the “accidental” death of both a woman and her daughter, that I guess he was “too scared to report to the authorities”? Tale as old as time, and always unbelievable.
