A new UID case from Vienna, Austria.
Mord-Alarm in Wien: Junge Frau wurde erstickt

Since the article is in German, I am trying to summarize.

Found on the 26th at 7 am in Vienna Donaustadt. A deceased female leaning on a tree in a park next to Viktor Kaplan street.
Cause of death: Asphyxia
Female, young adult, estimated age 18 years.
Of European descent.
Brown shoulder long hair, dyed reddish.
Striking light green eyes.
Slim build.
1,60 m tall (5'4")
Signs of physical abuse on her arms (bruises).
Strangling marks on her neck.
Clothing: Black hoodie with "Live Or Die" print, checkered black and white pants, white Nike trainers.

No papers. She does not match any missing persons report. Police showed her picture in the neighborhood, nobody knew her. She likely was not a local.
Police also thinks she was trying to escape from somewhere because she did not have any papers, handbag or phone with her.

Contact number for police 0043 1/31310 – 33800

What are you thoughts on this @Susikatze Reading between the lines....could she be a victim of human trafficking? I'm not inclined to go down that line quickly...but what is written...I don't know....

I see nothing that would point into that direction. Here most trafficking victims are from Ukraine, Russia, Bulgaria etc. I would not exclude that possibility completely, fashion is internationally the same, but i also do not see any evidence for it. Just dont know.

My gut feeling (maybe influenced by the fact we had too many cases of abused women murdered by their partners in the last year) is that she was someone, maybe runaway, from another town who visited a boyfriend. Maybe drug scene, but also absolutely no evidence for that, at least from what LE releases.

But again, all JMO and wild speculation at this point.
I am actually really happy LE releases relatively much information about her. Not common here.

Ok, found more about her hoodie. It is a brand by the German fashion chain New Yorker that sells cheap fashionable clothing for teens and young adults. Their label Black Squad the hoodie is from, caters to men from the alternative/goth/metal subcultures. That hoodie is a mens hoodie.

New Yorker shops are popular in Germany and Austria but are found allover Europe.

Note the images are not of her hoodie but what i found in classified ads.

My German is not the best but it seems like she was identified by her parents (source).
She was 13 years old, nothing else is known.

Wow! You are right. She was just identified today because her parents filed a missing person report in Lower Austria (another state but adjacent). She indeed was 13 and ran away, not much else is known, investigation is ongoing and parents are being asked about her circle of friends.

A mod can mark it as identified. Name withheld as of now.

Djee...how sad, 13 years old...Ruhe in frieden.

According to new releases, the parents only reported her missing after they had read the news. I assume either the parents did not care a lot anyway or she was a habitual runaway of some sorts. But 13! That is so so young. A child.

More info in the case.
13-jähriges Mordopfer stammt aus Tulln, Verdächtiger im Visier

The girl was indeed a habitual runaway and she came from a broken home and possibly suffered from mental illness. She has no known drug involvement.
So her parents did only come forward to report her missing when they saw a picture of the sweater on the media.

She was from Tulln in Lower Austria and was not killed on the scene where she was found but likely killed in someones home.

A possible suspect is in custody and being interviewed.

My guess is she ran away to be with a "boyfriend" or "friends". Who turned out to be the wrong kind of friends.

How truly tragic.
The arrested men are 16- and 18- years- old.
My heart goes out to her family.

According to new reports they drugged and killed her. And they already had quite a nice criminal record.

I don't have high hopes she'll get the justice she deserves. They may go to prison, but at their current ages, how young will they still be when they get back out? Sigh.
In my opinion only.

In my opinion only.

Another issue is that both have recent refugee status and are from a war torn country, so they cannot be legally returned there. The 18 year old was in jail twice and had 11 convictions for different violence and drug related offenses since he came to Austria in 2016. The 16 year old has no criminal record, he just arrived this year.
Another 18 year old acquaintance, same legal status, but different country of origin, reported them to police after they told him they had raped and killed a girl.
Not my own opinion but official news.

The girls name was Leonie and according to LE, knew both murderers and went to their apartment with them. Where she was drugged, sexually assaulted, strangled and beaten. It is unclear whether she was alive when she was dumped at the park.
She had no drug history but was a frequent runaway, ive found an article searching for her just a week before she was found. Apparently she ran away, returned for a short time and then ran away again to be with her "friends" just to meet with foul play.
Also official news.

Tragic. I hope she can get justice.

Why some teenagers run away, I believe there are so many reasons - from depression, to other mental illnesses, to substance abuse, to feeling that school has become unbearable, to home issues, but never would I assume any particular reason.
Please support her parents and family during this time.

From what the media releases, the family is being taken care of since day 1 by a special psychotrauma unit from law enforcement. They are really good at that here, we are lucky to have that.

Oh yeah, teenager can be really difficult. If I think about the worries i gave my parents when i was a teen... oyy.

I'm so sad for her. She got dealt a very bad hand of cards in life.

I also think the refugee who went to the police and reported them is a hero. Not everyone would have come forward, especially not someone whose life depends on their legal status.
