When she was last seen, Ayla's left arm was in a sling. She was last seen wearing green pajamas with polka-dots and "Daddy's Princess" written on the front.
Ayla was last seen at home at approximately 10:00 pm on December 16, 2011. The FBI very quickly became involved in the search for Ayla. A massive search of the area turned up no sign of Ayla. The day before Ayla disappeared from her father's home, her mother had sought full custody of her. Shortly afterward, her father's vehicle was seized and analyzed. Crime scene tape was put up around the home, where it was later revealed that investigators had discovered blood. Police believe foul play was involved in Ayla's disappearance, but no suspects or persons of interest have been named.
