I'd think that if that is what is suspected, that would have been released - either during the community meeting or publicly, because that is dangerous and residents should be more careful, but that wasn't the message being sent at the meeting or publicly. The message was that this was not random and was isolated.

But it could still be someone she know who did it and did it that way.

ah, yes, of course, sorry, I wasn't thinking in that direction but yes, you're of course right!

OT - wow, never heard of "dark sky" ordinance, thanks! Not good if it makes you feel uneasy going to car in parking lot.

Hi Steve :)

It isn't as dark in this part of town as it is in some others. North Scottsdale, which is further out in the desert has VERY dark skies. There are hardly any street lights to speak of. It's dark even driving out there, much less shopping at night.

People in Arizona are very fussy about their stargazing. We want to see the aliens too. :D

There's actually a fine line between not dark enough and too dark.

I'm thinking about driving by Allison's tonight and checking out just exactly how dark it is where she lived. I don't know if you saw my earlier post...but there was a New Moon that night, which means the same as no moonlight. So it would have been extra dark.

Do you think if she was targeted, as LE says, and her murder was actually premeditated, that someone might have planned it on the new moon so it would be super dark and they wouldn't be seen?

We already know we are dealing with a devious mind, so I don't think this is too off-base. What do you think?

ah, yes, of course, sorry, I wasn't thinking in that direction but yes, you're of course right!

I think it was a good question about if they sneaked in through the garage, but I agree with you AzGirl that if LE knew this was the case they would have surely informed us at the meeting or in the reports they gave to the news.

At this point I'm not sure, unless they found an open door or window, if they even know how the perp got in. They did say "no forced entry". So they didn't break a window, or jimmy a door, etc.

My best guess is this was someone she knew quite well and had no fear of in the slightest. It could have been an acquaintance or former school mate or someone she had a few dates with that she actually didn't even know had a "fixation" on her.

It could be this person was a complete sociopath and she didn't have a clue. :(

Most serial murderers, I have read, were sociopaths who actually charmed their victims into a false sense of security.

But I actually don't think it was any of the above. I think this was someone that Allison knew very well and there was something going on between the two of them. Like one of the elements - the conflict. I certainly don't want to sleuth Allison because she seems like the greatest girl in the world, which makes this even more difficult. But we don't know all her secrets. And for all we know this guy might have been one of them.

I think this is why we can't rule anyone out. Not at this point in the game. We can't just go on leaks that were in the news for one day either. We need to bang our heads against the wall on this one because I think the DNA was destroyed and LE might have hit a brick wall.

I hope I'm wrong.

OT - yep, I have learned so so so much since Adrienne's death about investigations from many other cases here at WS. It helps to see how things are handled in other cases and other jurisdictions, and sometimes applying logic from one case to another is helpful and other times it just goes to show how differently cases are handled in different parts of the country/world.

All that to say that it really isn't odd to withhold COD at this point, from what I've seen in other cases. And also - something will break in Allison's case. Let's not let her death be forgotten before it's even been solved. Always appreciate your passion for getting to what matters ETA: and your outside-the-box thinking!, MissD.

Thanks AzGirl! Backatcha!! :)

Actually, I've been told my passion is my best (and worst) trait.

:tantrum:

OT: Did anyone here see Fifty Shades of Grey? It had just opened the previous week here in Scottsdale. I know several couples who went to the movie that weekend, Valentine's Day.

I found the movie to be vile and disgusting and very demeaning to women. I wonder if Allison saw it. I recall seeing a FB post of hers where she posted a trailer of it some months back. She left a comment I think. I can't recall exactly what she said.

I worried watching the movie that it could give the wrong guys ideas. I personally hated the movie!!!

Interesting points in your post. I think you might be right.

OT - wow, never heard of "dark sky" ordinance, thanks! Not good if it makes you feel uneasy going to car in parking lot.

We have a county lighting ordinance, which is VERY cool, but I'm out in "Bum **** Egypt". The stars are awesome, gets to the point where you can't see the black of the night sky.

When I lived in Scottsdale, I don't think that ordinance was in effect. In the 80's we were trimming palm trees at night at shopping centers and had plenty of parking lot lights to get the job done. That would be in the summer when the temps went above 117 in the day, there was no way to safely tie on to a palm tree with enough water to keep you hydrated..........and if you fainted or got heat exhaustion or stroke, it was all about calling the EMTs and a cherry picker to get you down.

The ordinance here is 150 incandescent or 90 halogen, at a 65 degree angle downward. Anything more is a fine.

Also common for the South Texas 'burbs I grew up in during the early 80's. It's so trash cans aren't visible on the streets, nor do the trash trucks traverse the burb streets as a rule. It sounds like it was a common theme for mid 80s/early 90s middle class subdivisions.

And you have your residential utility poles and boxes in the alleys too. If you do a major yard cleanup, you can dump out in the alley and they'll pick it up.

I actually wish it was darker where I live. The association has it brighter because they want the residents to feel safe. I don't like anything that interferes with my enjoyment of the night sky.

I do prefer well lit parking lots however! But you know Snottsdale. Must keep up it's image.

It doesn't seem like she had her security system on.

Too bad she didn't have her .38 on. I'm a big believer in exercising your 2nd amendment rights.

However, your post just jogged my brain. Whoever did it must have known she had a security system because she had signs in her yard. They also must have known she didn't have cameras.

It had to be someone she knew, who knew her and was familiar with the layout. This is what I'm thinking.

Yes, I think it was someone that she knew, too. Her boyfriend was supposed to go on a business trip. Does anyone know if he went? I'm not thinking he's involved, but has LE definitely said he was ruled out?

No, the last I looked he was still trying to work things out with the travel company. The commander at the meeting said the BF was "cooperating" when asked if he was a POI or suspect. I think it's natural to think he had something to do with it. After all, he was the last one to see her alive that we know of and the one who found her body. (shudder)

And yet, I don't think he did it. I think he really loved her. And this may be exactly why she was murdered.

I can't imagine the nightmares he must have after seeing her. He'll probably never get that sight out of his head. I don't think he did it,either. I hope someone is arrested soon.

We were robbed last spring. Long story, but we know who did it. My son who doesn't live at home keeps his BMW in our garage( he has another car). They came in through a locked window, and stole the car right out of the garage after finding the spare set. We also have 2 pit bulls, but they are mushes. After that experience we got the alarm and cameras installed, which my son paid for. It was expensive. $5,000. We still only tend to use it when we leave the house. I think in Allison's case she probably opened the door not thinking anything bad would happen, especially since it was still daylight.

How do we know it was still daylight? The murder supposedly happened some time between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, correct?

I just thought of something.

Doesn't the city normally post a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction when someone is murdered? They haven't done this. And the family hasn't set up a fund for a reward either, which is not the norm.

I'm thinking this is a good sign they have a very strong suspect and they're just waiting on forensics to make an arrest. Another reason for the secrecy.

Make sense?

Makes a lot of sense to me! Thanks for your insight into this situation!
