Googled for any new news - nothing. Actually, nothing from LE since about the 18th of this month (March). So at a dead-end.... hope we don't get into endless re-hashing...

From local sources I have there isn't anything new to report. Early tips LE had didn't pan out. It looks like they have nothing.:(

The timing of the publicity of the burglar was what got me. When was the last time you saw a news article about a "burglar"? What's so important about this guy? Is he pulling off $50,000 heists? And at night? What's his MO?

From the article:

If he was frequenting wealthy neighborhoods, insurance would replace the stolen property, to say nothing about high end security systems would deter the heck out of him.
Scottsdale is huge, WHERE is he committing these burglaries?
What's so important about this guy?
Where's he fencing his stolen property? Pawn shops? Gold buyers? They'd all have surveillance and copies of his ID with every transaction. He's not going to be fencing his stuff on the black market for 10-30 cents on the dollar.
His back pack only holds so much, certainly not a flat screen tv, sound system, or objects de art. Doing jobs at night most likely involve a weapon, which makes it an enhanced felony. The pic was taken at night with IR illumination.

If SPD "sounded the alarms", the guy would spook and go underground.

The whole article is sketchy and pretty suspect to me.

Yes, most burglars/rapists avoid homes with security signs and decals in their windows, but experienced and successful burglars/rapist will watch a house and the occupants for several days to see who lives there, what their schedule is, how many vehicles, what times the alarm system is armed by the lights on outside key panels, and use their cell phone photo ap to see if IR is being used by security cameras.
Dogs are a far bigger threat which is usually by passed by bringing raw meat.

Then again, it might have nothing to do with it.

That guy could pull off a bloody murder, strip down his layers of clothes, and look like he just came from a movie.

Now look at that guy like he was a rapist/murderer. Gloves, long sleeve shirt, top of head covered, non distinct shoes. Even in his layers, he looks pretty buffed out. Is that a 5 or 6' wall he's next to?

No height, weight, ethnicity, age, area, stolen items, or time that he hits houses. <---THAT'S STRANGE.

When was the last time you saw an article about LE searching for a burglar?

Maybe a google map search of the surrounding houses in AF's neighborhood might just show a home with a front or rear entry way with pavers and a stucco privacy wall..........

You are right! He has committed some burglaries in this area. I just found out this morning. SPD wants to get a DNA sample from this guy.

What would be interesting is if the burglaries STOPPED after the 19th of February......if this guy has been doing this and doesn't have any DNA on record, he could leave the State, go straight, and disappear.

Yeah. And it would be pretty sad if this is the only thing they have to go on. Like you stated the guy definitely looks like a professional burglar. He was looking straight into the camera though. You would think he would have known it was there. I am presuming they didn't get a good image of him on the neighbors video. Probably just enough to know the time he left.

Gah, tried to Google, Bing, and Google Earth to get the lay of the land in the neighborhood and the last imagery is all back in 2013, before all the outside renovations where done to AF's house.
It went from this:

to this:

So any searching for security systems/cameras on other homes, or matching the "burglar" pics are kind of dead in the water.

I will go over there tomorrow and take some pics. I can't do it today.

Just checking in to see if there was any news. Sadly, I see there's nothing. Hoping for a resolution very soon.

I was trying to find a similar entry way as was pictured in the burglar photos, it's a stucco privacy wall that kind of shields a door, don't know which door it might be, thinking side or utility/garage door. It looks pretty nondescript and is placed next to the corner of the building. (On the right hand side of pic)

I looked at it. Looks to me like it is in between two residences and by a door that leads into the garage. That appears to be a wingwall he's standing by. There are several complexes in that area similar to that. I'll bet I can find it.

No it isn't related to AF but the Getty family is well known so the case will be high profile. I'm sure it will have a thread soon if not already.

Could be the light. And you're so right about the Scottsdale crowd spotting a fake. Actually the Scottsdale crowd would look down on a woman even wearing a return to tiffany bracelet these days. Unless she was wearing the $5,000 18k white gold one with the diamonds around the heart. Even then.....

I wouldn't like living in Scottsdale if people are this shallow. I could care less what kind of jewelry someone wears so no way would I fit in.
Also, I do feel LE is looking for this guy in the video pics. He definately could be the perp. Her house was so OPEN and easy to see inside of etc. Anyone would have been able to tell when her BF left if they were watching her house. I hope they can find this guy. His being layered up is to me a sign that he has done this alot. gloves? Wow just scary.

I love Scottsdale! It's like a great big small town. People are pretentious everywhere. Scottsdale is just more honest about it. lol The truth is people here are very nice. It's a lovely place to live!

SPD can't make out anything other than a shape of the perp leaving the scene. Nothing of him coming. The burglaries were in the area. They have nothing else to tie him in but they do want to check his DNA

They are still following up on other leads. I'm hoping a reward will be offered soon. Maybe that will get someone to come forward.

I still think it was personal.

Lots of gumshoe work to be done, if it's being done.... background checks of the neighborhood; who's moved in recently, who left... also places where AF may have been noticed by a creep - if she spent time some place working out (indoors or out)... clubs she was at...
Have all she's been in known contact with been interviewed, all accounted for?
Come on LE - hold a press conference... why no push by media for answers?
The window of opportunity time-wise was not large... but since we only hear about things when a crime has been committed, can't go by that...
Was it personal - the towel... don’t know... odds favor that.... but burglary, sex attack, covering head... very strange..
Big unanswered question - was it a sexual attack. Why won't that be released?!

I don't really believe this was done by a random perp or a burglar who just happened to find a window or door open or who managed to get in without leaving any signs of forced entry.

There are far too many red flags everywhere to ignore them. Also, unfortunately, there are burglaries all the time in the Phoenix metropolis, of which Scottsdale is a part. There are murders and sexual assaults and other horrible things that happen just like in most large cities.

But still, Scottsdale is considered one of the safest places in the country to live.

Allison's murder is the most high profile and gruesome crime we've had since Bob Crane was murdered back in the seventies. It took LE years to bring charges against the perp, who had been a trusted friend.

I am not buying into the theory that a burglar watched and waited for Alex to leave and then went in and brutally raped and murdered her. I think something happened that Valentine's day weekend, not sure with whom, but the timing of the crime and the brutality of the act lead me to believe it was someone she knew well and for whatever reason got into an intense and deadly argument with. We still don't know so many things about this crime. The fact she was found nude might or might not indicate sexual assault. The perp might have removed her clothing to destroy them along with other incriminating evidence.

LE was on the scene for four full days. They must have collected mountains of evidence. And we know they are still waiting for some results.

This isn't the only case they've got but I can assure you it's their top priority case. And while they can't prove it (at this time) they still think it was isolated and personal and that she knew her attacker.

Just because we can't sleuth anyone here who is not a suspect or POI doesn't mean we can't still speculate about what we think might have happened.

FYI, the burglar has never been named a suspect or POI in the Allison Feldman case.

Someone was saying this reminds them of the Maggie Daniels case (a case very near me) I agree with that. They cleared Maggie's boyfriend very quick and kept everything else sealed until they made an arrest. I hope that is the case here. The only difference is SPD have not publically "cleared" AF boyfriend but other than that the investigations seems similar to me. The officers here were working round the clock to solve Maggie's case, I am sure they are working just as hard out in AZ.3

ETA: It ended up being a neighbor of Maggie's that wanted to "get with her" and she didn't lock her doors. There was also a small window of time in her case b/c she had dinner plans and her bf was not in town visiting at the time of the murder.

Yes Steve! Yes to everything you just said. LE has basically told us nothing. My gut tells me that even if they won't tell us they have a suspect or POIs and they are playing some kind of waiting game.

You're right we don't know where she worked out. And she probably did because almost every woman in Scottsdale belongs to a gym. She looked to be in excellent shape.

We don't know much about her other than she was the perfect child who was dating her future husband who she had met ten months prior and had traveled quite a bit with. All we really know is what we find on Facebook and other social media sites, except for those things we can't talk about here that we discover from background checks etc.

People are not always what they seem on the outside. People can have secrets. Even deep dark secrets. In her circle of acquaintances and in her background she might have had some kind of relationship with a highly disturbed person. Obviously this was the work of a mentally disturbed individual. Probably a psychopath or sociopath.

I think LE will find them. Maybe not as soon as we want. But eventually something will break, if it hasn't already.

Istiff, that is interesting. I'm not at all familiar with the Maggie Daniels case because I'm just here for Allison's. I think you could very well be right in all you said when comparing the cases. It's not like we're some little hick town with two cops on the beat and one detective. SPD has a very sophisticated and highly trained police force. We have a lot of dedicated detectives working on this case and as you know they too have sealed the documents. They wouldn't do this if they have nothing. Would they?

Yes, some days I get discouraged and think they don't have a clue and then reality sets back in.

Ten days after Daniels was found dead, police have not named any suspects publicly. Brown later says Odom was identified as a suspect within a week of the investigation starting.

» A month after Daniels’ death, no suspect has been named publicly.

I'm not giving up hope that SPD is lining up their "ducks" to get the person who killed AF. I hope public answers come soon!

BBM: I was born there in '61. They still had sheep going down Scottsdale Road twice a year, herders taking them back and forth from Flagstaff and Chandler. It was a place where the wealthy could be "unknown" or "unmolested". Many people still had livestock of some sort, and the huge deal was the Parada del Sol parade and rodeo. Stores where open a 1/2 day on Saturdays and closed on Mondays. 5th Avenue basically closed up during the summer months and the winter visitors where called "snow birds". No smog, no pollution. It was an awesome place to grow up.
It didn't become pretentious until the mid '80's.
I got out of there in 1989. I live in "Bum **** Egypt" and you couldn't pay me to go back. That was Scottsdale influence on me growing up. Horses, cattle, open spaces, and people who actually wave when they pass by and say "good morning".
If you like "name dropping" and being acknowledged for what you drive, wear, live in, Scottsdale is the place to go. There still are nice neighborhoods that are friendly, but you've got to look.
It's also been a dumping ground for "Witness Protection" for decades.
