Sheriff: Teens Express No Remorse In Interviews

An autopsy shows that a 17-year-old Arizona girl allegedly slain by two teenage boys had eight to nine stab wounds to her chest, neck and back, authorities said Thursday.

Pinal County Sheriff Christopher Vasquez said Hess died after the aorta in her heart was cut, the East Valley Tribune reported Thursday on its Web site.

In an interview on Thursday with CBS 5 News, Vazquez described the teens as cocky during their interviews with investigators.

"It was matter of fact," Vazquez said. "Wasn't a big deal to them. Just matter of fact. No remorse, wasn't sorry for what they did, felt what they did was okay."

Has there been any mention of them being in a gang? The pics in Nick's myspace certainly look like he is giving a gang sign.

One of the reports mentioned that LE did not think this was gang related.

"We don't believe this is a gang-related situation," Deputy Chief Clint Lee told reporters in a late-morning news briefing.

They won't act so cocky once they get behind the bars with the BIG guys.

Did they ever release whether she was pregnant or not? An article I read earlier said that they had sent off {sorry- uterus} for testing.

Todd Hoke changed his plea to guilty in March 2010, but in April there's an "order to vacate," so I'm not sure what that was all about.

Nicolas Castillo is still in the hearings phase and has filed motions to designate as a complex case.

Wow.. 3 years later and they are still only in the hearing phase. 3 years is way too long to wait for justice. Especially in a crime as brutal and senseless as this.

From May 2010:

Hoke, 18, pleaded guilty to first degree murder. Friday, he was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 25 years.

Castillo, 19, pleaded guilty to second degree murder and abandonment or concealment of a body. Castillo was given 22 years...

DNA results revealed a fetus was inside Hess's body at the time of her death, but it was never determined if the fetus died when she did or before.
