GUILTY AZ - Christine Mustafa, 30, Phoenix, 10 May 2017 *Arrest*

I would think that a $100,000.00 bail would be deemed unusual in any murder case in the U.S. Working with the courts for so many years myself, I have never seen a bail that low. And anyone would be considered a flight risk in a situation like this. What do they have to lose? IMO

...
RE: $100k....I know, right!?....I've seen plenty of cases, even non-death related, where bail was set at $150-250k ..."per count"....so to me, it just seemed off..(crazy!) to even ask for bail at such a low set amount...

*** Upon further thought ***
Unless, that amount was just a matter of 'form', as in, they had to stick something in that blank box as a place holder and the actual amount didn't make any difference and whatever paralegal or admin who filled out the forms could just as easily have stuck in $1.00 (& $100k is just a standard amount they stick in that spot) because realistically, the atty went into court and argued for a lesser bail amount in whatever sum the judge was willing to lower it to.....???...so while the reporter quoting $100k as the requested bail amount was factually correct, his/her doing so, was more of a laughable error due to their ignorance of standard legal practices vs any real desire or expectation by the Defense Atty to realistically get a $100k bail amount..*shrugs*....logically makes more sense I suppose....anyhow, just a theory or two after a bit more consideration ...

hmmm, if they are extending the search for three more weeks - after announcing yesterday that this would be the final push this week - they are on to something IMO.

Justice for Christine, and love to all those who knew and cared for her.

Phoenix Police Extend Landfill Search for Missing Mom; Boyfriend Charged With Murder:

Glad to see that they are still using cadaver dogs periodically during their search...I sincerely hope they find her body (if she is deceased, which I believe she is); however, just like that other similar case I mentioned previously in FL, Law Enforcement does not need a body nor a confession in order for them to prosecute Interval on Murder charges.

While, "Yes!", it would be circumstantial evidence, they need only convince a Jury that the logical answer to where she is, is that Interval murdered her, due to a jealous rage when she informed him she was leaving or when she told him to leave....the simplest logical answer is usually the right one...They need only prove their logical case beyond a reasonable doubt to a jury...

Could she have decided to leave and fly to Rio, abandon her child, to start a new life? Yes, but the likelihood of it is unreasonable!

What is Reasonable, is that Interval killed her...and he is too much of a coward to confess to the truth of what he did!

Just my Humble opinions & thoughts..

Not to mention the blood evidence that was found! I sure hope they find her. I am hoping that AZPistonsgirl is right and they may be onto something.

This article shared the cost of the landfill search. Sometimes cost prevents people from doing "the right thing". I'm so glad they performed the search despite these costs, to do the right thing for Christine.

"The department spent $1,191,144 on contract and streets department charges, $104,595 on equipment and supplies, and $180,817 on overtime costs."

I’m Sorry to hear that LE were unable to find anything..(and it makes me even more curious if the landfill was the correct location??), it may sound ridiculous to some, but I personally believe that if something was there, then they should have located it..if they were searching the ‘right’ plot of land..(meaning it was a good lead that was traceable back to a dumpster/trash bin where the suspect is suspected of using at like her home, work, or all from their neighborhood in one spot)..versus the POI/Suspect having either used another neighborhood location which would alter the plot number/location they needed to search...or as in the similar case in FL I’ve spoken about in the past LE was unsure if the suspect used their apt’s trashbin or that he just disposed of her body somewhere else in all of the available FL everglades, etc...

I’m VERY happy that LE in this case are so determined to locate evidence, and that they did not place a dollar figure on finding justice.

I hope however, that any suspect’s defense does not attempt to utilize LE’s failure to locate evidence at that specific site as any sort of justification that LE had the wrong suspect.

I take heart however in the fact that in the FL case, as I’ve pointed out before, LE was able to successfully prosecute the suspect (in that case her arranged marriage husband), even without her body. Sometimes the circumstantial evidence is strong enough that any reasonable person would have to be a bloomin’ idiot not to come to the logical and correct conclusion of ‘who done it’, when it’s so obvious...*shrugs* I hope LE has enough to go forward and prosecute regardless, and that they are willing to do so, to get some level of justice for Christine and her loved ones and child.

...I continue to hope that the proper person is held accountable... The above is all just my own two cents on the subject.. Best Regards everyone..

P.S. Please pardon typos and any grammar errors, a 1” window view can be difficult to work with, and I’m currently too tired to try & reread again to check it all...

[h=3]Authorities waiting for DNA testing to identify human remains found in Buckeye[/h]
BUCKEYE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) - "They did in fact confirm they are human remains,” said Buckeye Police Chief Larry Hall.
But to whom they belong is what both authorities and families are waiting to find out. A street sweeper found the bones Thursday, and Buckeye Police are now waiting for DNA testing from the state crime lab to determine the identity.
But because detectives don’t know whether the bones are adult or child, another family is anxiously waiting for an identification too.

Christine Mustafa disappeared last May. Her boyfriend is charged with her murder, even though her body’s never been found.

Phoenix police spent more than a month combing a landfill in Buckeye looking for her remains.

The Mustafa family sent us this statement Friday:
“We’ve been on edge following the news [Buckeye search] and were hoping for an update whether or not it is bones of a child or adult or any other info, but no word from news or law enforcement yet.”

Buckeye’s police chief hopes to have more answers next week.

"Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office detectives launched an investigation north of 11th Street and Alameda Road after they confirmed what the man located was human remains, according to MCSO Sgt. Bryant Vanegas. The area is east of Seventh Street and Happy Valley Road.
Additional remains were located on Saturday, which were transported to the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s office, where an autopsy is scheduled to be performed Tuesday, Vanegas said.

It is unknown if the remains are of a male or female, but the investigation is ongoing, Vanegas said in an emailed statement."

Oof that is rough! I live really close to the area and everyone locally was hoping it was her. Very sad that her family still does not have closure.
I was hoping too. But, there is at least one other missing person in the area (Tereina Jones), that the remains could be. So, hoping that someone gets closure soon.
