Ugh. Genuine error or Pistorius redux?

I’m thinking intentional because wouldn’t you be shooting away from the bed instead of toward the bed if startled? IMO

I always worry a little when I see a more than ten year age difference in a newly wed couple. Especially when the younger person is still in their twenties. People grow and change so much in their twenties. RIP. Prayers for her family.

Does anyone else think the husband looks like he's had work done? His eyes do not look natural to me. Maybe indicates someone pretty vain?

My son has natural almond shaped eyes. So, no, I don't believe this man has had his eyes worked on.

I’ve never shot a gun before but if you were frantic and startled shooting wouldn’t shots be closer together not seconds apart?

Looking at their pictures she is tiny. I also would think even if it was dark he’d be able to see a shadow of a tiny woman (his wife) as he was shooting especially since he was able to hit her 2x and only 3 shots fired.

Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Monica Edelstein on Tuesday postponed the trial originally expected to begin this month. The new trial date of May 21 allows the prosecution and defense more time to examine evidence and potentially reach a plea agreement.

If the case does not resolve and goes to trial, “I don’t think either of the parties believe we would be ready for trial until late summer or early fall,” said Frankie Grimsman, a deputy county attorney in the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.

Body cam video/audio at the link...

Hoopes says he was asleep for three hours. He woke up, startled and grabbed his gun out of his nightstand.

“It was like a dream. I don't know. Like, I just woke up in a panic,” he tells the officer.

He tells the officer he grabbed the gun, stood up and shot.

"I fired at my wife."

"Then I realized it was her."

The police officer asks Hoopes how many times he shot.

"I think three times,” he says.

Hoopes goes on to say:

"At first, when I shot her, I didn't, I thought it was someone else."

The officer questions him further.

“Were you fully aware of what was going on? Did you knowingly do what you were doing?

Hoopes responds, "I didn't knowingly shoot my wife."

“No, but knowingly you were awake, you were aware of the situation,” the officer says.

"I was startled awake,” Hoopes says.

He then stops the interview.

"Can I call my father? He's a lawyer."

Sounds like he's going to blame prescription meds. Trial has been delayed AGAIN because he hired a new lawyer.

is this guy in custody? cause that's a long time to wait for trial for witnesses ... and now he's got a new lawyer, that might push the trial forward to 2026

That's a great question. I assumed he was in jail but according to this article from March he's out on bail with an ankle monitor. So frustrating! His Dad is an attorney so he's helping him game the system to keep delaying his day of reckoning.
