AZ - Couple fabricated story that resulted in Amber Alert for toddler, Phoenix, 12 May 2021

18 m/o toddler was in a pickup truck stolen at a QT. Not a lot of info yet, even the child's name. There are pics of the couple who stole the truck.

Couple who stole the truck :

Fortune says the suspects were aware that the baby was inside when they left. “They did know there was a baby in that vehicle,” said Fortune.

“We’re concerned,” continued Fortune. “This couple does not know that child. They had no permission to have that child. That obviously brings up the level of urgency for us and make share this information so quickly.”

The truck is a dark green Ford F-250 with AZ plate CHC3292.

Tuff question, but have to ask --
Why didn't the caregivers take that child with them. Why, why, why??

Was the couple planning to kidnap the toddler all along? How did the caregivers and the couple meet?
Did the couple just want a child and saw an opportunity, or will they ask for ransom?

New info: the couple and the caregivers at the QT did in fact know each other. The parents of the baby, however, do not know this couple. The caregivers said they were asked to babysit every now and then. #azfamily

LE certainly has info on the vehicle, pics of the couple, and know whatever the caregivers told them about the couple by now. That's a good amount of info to start an investigation, and I hope bring the safe return of the toddler and quick arrests of the kidnappers.

The baby girl, according to Sgt. Fortune, was last seen wearing a pink onesie with the words "Momma's Baby" on the front. Sgt. An AMBER Alert has been issued for the girl, who is reportedly named "Wendy."

Investigators have identified and located the couple allegedly involved in the incident, but they are still trying to get more information to find the baby.

The incident, according to investigators, took place along Indian School Road, west of Central Avenue. Sgt. Mercedes Fortune with Phoenix Police said the child's caregiver, along with a couple, went into a convenience store in the area, and at some point, the couple went back to the truck, and drove away with the girl.

Fortune said it all started when at around 1:30 p.m., the toddler's caregivers and the couple went inside the store, leaving the baby girl in the truck parked outside. That's when the couple, who had just met the caregivers, took the truck from the parking lot and drove off, police say.

I just don't understand, they(kidnappers) know the people who owned the truck, they know the child was in the truck when they stole it. They got caught. Why are they not saying where this baby is? IMO
