Daniel Robinson of South Carolina missing in Arizona | wltx.com

A search for a missing man is spanning nationwide.

Daniel's family is asking for help. While his dad made the trip to se rch on the ground in AZ, his brother David is hoping to reach a broader audience from the Midlands.

“Last we heard he was at his job site June 23rd, behaving a little strangely according to the witnesses there," says David Robinson, Daniel's oldest brother and resident of Ridgeway, "and he drove off from his job site that morning and from that point forward, no one has heard or seen from him.”

“We called his cellphone and at some point his phone was turned off, we tried reaching out to his GPS system and that service wasn’t working, his car has been off, so we haven’t been able to track his car," David explains, "nothing on his bank records suggest where he might have been so we’re just little by little trying to figure out something, trying to get pieces and clues.”

SC father raising money to search Arizona desert for his missing 24-year-old son

The father said the last person to see his son in the desert was another field worker. That man told police it started raining and Daniel left the site.

According to police, his tire tracks show he went west into the desert -- where there is nothing -- instead of going east to the main road.

Police tried to get information from On-Star technology on Daniel’s blue Jeep Renegade, but there was no power to it, and his cell phone battery is dead.

This doesn’t sounds good at all. I wish they would elaborate on how he was “acting strangely” in the weeks leading up to his disappearance. The specific behavior may give us an insight to possible theories. I hope he is found safe very soon!

I've been scouring the map as well. There are only dirt roads to the west of his jobsite area. The most prominent ones seem to be along runs of high voltage power towers, through washes, over a canal...No shade, no pavement.

The closest point of interest appears to be a trailhead/gathering point for the Ankon Hiking Trail. There's a somewhat 'direct' route from the intersection of Sun Valley Pkwy & W Cactus Rd (his purported jobsite), through the dirt roads and washes. If the terrain were difficult, he may have been or may still be somewhere out there with a blown tire or broken down vehicle.

I'm kind of surprised that google maps says you can get through on this route. Are there no gates on any of these roads!? Is this all public land? I see what looks like a power station. Wouldn't something like that be gated? MOO.

Thank you so much for the Google Maps link. Just checked it out, and it was very helpful.

Immediately, I started wondering about the canal :(.

The blue-grey Jeep that would stand out in a desert might not so much in water (depending upon the current water levels, perhaps).

I wonder if they have had searchers specifically look for signs of an accident along the canal?

Is it surprising that the vehicle hasn't been located by helicopters, or am I really naive? Just too large a search area?

Also, did he leave the job site when the job had finished, or did he just up and leave half-way through?

This is horrible- they haven't found his car either, which automatically makes me think accident. 915? He went for coffee, back to the office, a real restroom, wasn't feeling well, got a call?
Prayers he is found simply taking a life break....

eta: we don’t know if he typically spends all day every day at the remote site. Maybe he goes, does whatever he does, and goes back to an office? His phone records should be helpful. Google tracks locations

Or, carjacking.

We're seeing such a bump in that kind of crime out west.

I hope he's just gone on to try and make some decisions for himself. And yes, surely phone records should help - in fact, should be key here.

I honestly don't think it was a car accident, to be honest. Police should've found some evidence or the other if it was one in or around the city. I mean, it's pretty strange nobody found anything. You can't just dispose of that big of a vehicle, especially after a car crash. They said that he was "acting strange" in the days leading up to his disappearance. Are we really to believe that it was just a coincidence and not something else? Something about this makes me believe that he just ran away, but then there were no indications of it, at least according to his family. He loved his job, I assume there were no transactions made from his bank account either.
The fact that he was "acting strange" makes me suspicious about this whole scenario. He was last seen on 23rd June, there had got to be something he knew. I don't believe that the "acting strange" part was just a mere coincidence.
I'm just shooting in the dark here, I don't really know anything.

If you are so inclined and even if your not, the desert is a very easy place to get lost in. There was only a light rain for a couple of hours from about 8-10AM, that day. No more rain the rest of the day. Temps were in the low 90s. I wonder if he decided to do some exploring. When I was looking at Buckeye and the surrounding area I noticed the Organ Pipe National Monument about an hour away. That is a place known for smuggling. Just some random thoughts. I know it's been said he was not himself lately, but for some reason I don't think he purposely disappeared. I sure hope his family can get some information soon. Thoughts and prayers to them.

I really feel for his family. I don't blame them for wanting to search - I would - but I'll just say I'm worried for them.

(I am just jumping off your post...) I am worried that his light blue jeep might have flipped over in an off road accident into a ravine. In that case it is the black underside of the car to look for?

My other concern is that I followed the "canal" west on @JMapes map posted above, and it eventually just peters out in CA. I am not so sure that it is a "canal" as much as just a wash or channel for spring runoff and/or storm flash floods. IOW it is a sporadic waterway, not permanent. I could not find a name for this water feature, and that might help. JMO
