With A Spotlight On Gabby Petito, The Parents Of 2 Missing Black Men Call For Action

The families of two Black men who have gone missing in recent months — Jelani Day and Daniel Robinson — are drawing attention to this disparity, and pleading for the public's help in finding answers

Robinson, 24, was last seen leaving a job site in Buckeye, Ariz., on June 23, and was reported missing later that day.

A landowner found Robinson's Jeep in a ravine on July 19, Buckeye police said, adding that it had "significant damage" and had not been clearly visible to search crews because of the rough terrain.

The vehicle appeared to have rolled and landed on its side, AZ Central reported, citing police. Its airbags were deployed, and evidence suggests Robinson was wearing a seatbelt at the time.

Police also said his clothes, cellphone, wallet and keys were found at the scene, and that foul play was not suspected given the state of the car.

Robinson's father, however, has publicly alleged that he is doing more to find his son than law enforcement is.

In an online petition, Robinson writes that Buckeye police are "unwilling to move beyond their theory which leads to non-action on their part," and urges signatories to hold the department accountable for continuing to pursue answers.

He also calls for the missing person investigation to be changed to that of a criminal investigation, which he says would allow police to seek warrants based on any evidence obtained.

Robinson has created a separate online fundraising page to raise money for other efforts to locate his son, like printing flyers, hiring a private investigator, enlisting a desert search and rescue team and covering the cost of his Arizona hotel stay.

Those are two curious marks that do not fit in with the ground around them. I can't blow them up enough to tell what they are without them going fuzzy. Too big for foot prints. Might be too big for kneeling prints. Also can't see if there are prints going to and from them. I really hate teaser photographs where I can see there is evidence, but it's from too far away to tell what.
definitely tires digging in...from personal obs not a photograph.

This was likely posted already, as it's from Sept 8, but it's an interview with the accident reconstructor, and has all the details about the car in a 2 minute video.

So he leaves the job site when the rain starts at 915am. Perhaps he goes somewhere to wait out the bad weather and grab a bite to eat? The initial accident that deploys the air bags happen 4 hours after he leaves the job site. The car is then driven an another 11 miles before ending up in the ditch.

He went somewhere and very likely encountered someone else. I highly doubt he was driving around aimlessly in the desert for 4 hours. What's nearby this area? Any places to eat or hang out?

The windshield impact is very distinct. If the vehicle rolled multiple times, then perhaps that windshield damage is caused by a large rock.

Further, it's interesting to see the moon roof wide open. Why would one drive around in the middle of the desert at the hottest point in the day with the moon roof open? Any normal person is driving with it closed and the A/C blasting. It looks like someone took his car for a joyride and then dumped it in the ravine.

To my eye the windshield damage doesn’t look like something that resulted from a rollover, where I would expect to see more of a crumple coming in from the side. That looks more like a rapid impact from a heavy object - something akin to a sledge hammer blow.

Note also the gouge to the windscreen pillar - again appears to be a rapid impact from the relatively small amount of bending to the surrounding metal.

I absolutely agree with you.
The private investigator/crash reconstruction expert also commented in media interviews that the damage to the vehicle does not match that of a typical rollover. He believes the car was "staged" in the ravine.

I'm thinking Daniel was attacked while in the vehicle, removed from the vehicle, and another individual (or group) took his vehicle for a joyride. They disposed of Daniel somewhere else, likely with severe or fatal injuries.

WRT the moon roof - I got the impression from the earlier BPD scene photos that it had been kicked out from the inside (the glass hanging below - circled) and that this was the route by which DR (or whoever was driving) escaped from the vehicle after it rolled.

Accident was not "rollover", it "rolled onto it's side' according to Mr. McGrath. IMO whoever was driving kicked it out after the wreck to get out. i.e. they were in the driver's seat, undid buckle, fell into passenger side, crawled into back and kicked it out. IF joyriding with a top off, you would take the FRONT panel out, not the back. And it was raining that morning. Research 2007 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk (trim) for more details on features.

Correct although its not glass, its just a lightweight carbon fiber panel.

And who else could 'stage' the vehicle? Damage the car?

Looking at other BPD scene photo - what’s the thinking re additional damage on the driver’s side? Is that a reflection of clouds/sky in the paintwork, or has something scraped all the way along the side below the level of the door handles taking the paint off (possibly also knocking the wing mirror into the driver’s side window)?

This parcel is too far north. The weeck site is in the lower Southwest corner of Trillium, west of the large detention basin.
Ah OK thanks for the correction - I see now that DR must have been working in the Trillium parcel.
Do we know if he had an itinerary for that day? Would he have had a list of site locations that he had to go and work at?
