GUILTY AZ - Daniel Rodriguez, 29, fatally shot by Phoenix PD officer, 5 Oct 2010 #3

geevee, you said in your last post that it might be a ploy to drum up sympathy, and I was reading the comments on that ABC15 article, there are many sympathetic ones. I hope a stunt like this doesn't happen again, or I fear that you are right and the tide will start swinging in Chrisman's direction, last thing we want if there is gonna be a re-trial.

Think Arpaio did the right thing nipping this in the bud and removing her right away, just wish she wouldn't have done it, she is the one who loses in this situation if she loses her job! I'm sure Arpaio has brought the other employees in line, makes sure it won't happen again. I think this lady was probably angry b/c she felt he still wasn't getting the proper punishment even though the jury convicted him, because of his need for solitary confinement. And on top of that he was not found guilty of 2nd degree murder, so this is the punishment he's getting for EVERYTHING as of now. I understand where she was coming from, she feels like he's being punished but at the same time not being punished, iykwim.

But being in prison, solitary or not, either way it will be a punishment. Juan brought as much justice as he could, I thank him for that! And the jury for convicting him on this. The best thing for people now is to let him suffer and don't give him or PLEA publicity, they will use that publicity to get his gospel out and get out any "suffering" stories about his time in prison....best for him to go away and not be heard of until re-trial!!

The Pietz trial:

The State v. Martin "David" Pietz for the murder of Nicole Pietz - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community

WAT live stream:

It's in Washington state so same as AZ time (pretty soon all time zones will convert to AZ time ha ha, less confusion that way). They're on the usual 1 1/2 hour lunch, will be back in about 20 minutes from now. Still in prosecution case in chief, I believe the medical examiner will be on the stand next (or soon).

Years ago police officers convicted of a crime were usually sent to a Federal Prison for their own safety. Not sure if they still do that. Until he is sentenced though I think he will remain in jail. jmo

Just curious, he is no longer a police officer. Since he is charged and found guilty of a felony and can no longer be with LE. Then how come he will be put in solitary. I don't think he should be treated special anymore than anyone else. jmho

Cops usually don't fare well in jail. Even if he just lost his job b/c he murdered someone.

The jail has the responsibility of keeping him safe and alive. So, it would be to protect the jail (rather the City and State that would get sued) as much as the inmate.

Don't know if they still put them in Federal Prison or if they just ship them far away now.

I understand that and there are plenty of other prisoners that might need protected in prison also. Such as pedophiles and the like. I really don't know, I there are others that are attacked in prison if you know what I mean.

Michael Devlin for example was stabbed for kidnapping and having sex with Shawn Hornbeck/Ben Ownby.

I know he wasn't killed but he was still in danger.

I am just using you post as a jumping off point. In no way do I want someone to die, I just don't want special treatment. Daniel Rodriguez didn't get treated fairly so neither should RC. jmho

Oh, I posted above about the Pietz trial, it went on hiatus until Sept. 30th, judge has a state judicial conference to attend.

im waiting for the Sheila Eddy trial, sure that starts on oct 22nd

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...best-friend-Skylar-Neese-didnt-like-more.html

OMG Josie, I had not heard about this case....that is so sickening what they did. I feel bad that the girl who initially confessed is only getting 2nd degree, but on the other hand if she hadn't confessed they would've never found the body, and there should be something given to those who confess rather than those who choose to lie, lie, lie the whole time.

This other girl deserves the rest of her life behind bars (know she can't get the death penalty, so that's as good as she'll get).

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Geevee, I might pop into that one from time to time, can't go all-in because I don't want to get completely sucked in to the case like I usually do!! :floorlaugh:

Oh wow! I love to hear the behind-the-scenes gossip!!

LOL at the "coyote rescue" - only in Arizona!! (hope the coyote made it)
Would have been interesting to hear what exactly the juror said, and I guess she didn't know that other girl Nicole was a paralegal??

Also, sounds like that juror would have been for the State since Juan objected to her being removed - Bummer!!

Regarding reasonable apprehension vs. physical injury with the agg. assault
charge, I'm assuming the physical injury was the bruised temple. I
actually think changing it hurt the defense b/c some (2) people believed
Chrisman (partially or wholly?), and his version was that he held the gun
up and did a sweeping motion, which would not have caused any injury.
But I believe even Chrisman's version would cause reasonable
apprehension of immediate injury, so that is why the jury was unanimous
on that charge (IMO, or it could have been a compromise, IDK). So I
think actually the defense hurt their own case, it might have been even
hung on that charge, if I'm understanding the terms correctly.

Yeah, and not to mention the focus would shift away from the real victim Danny. Lord knows the publicity (and donations) PLEA would get from something like that.

Better just ship him off somewhere never to be heard of until re-trial, then ship him back and KEEP him there!! :jail:

I might follow that Hiccup girl trial every now and then, not sure yet though.

I completely understand. I don't get how one inmate gets more protection than another either. Other than as aa said, the publicity possibly.

I'm not even sure it is so bad for cops in jail anymore. That all began a long time ago. Could be no one cares, or he could make friends by pretending to be a "jail house lawyer". Of course any "jail house lawyer" is never someone anyone should listen to, but people are desperate in there.

We've had older inmates die b/c of no air conditioning. You would think there would be outrage and lots of publicity. Nope, just a one day blurb in the news and that is being investigated. Never any news on an investigation, and still no a.c. in the jails. That would not be the case if a man of blue dies in jail though. We would never hear the end of it.

PHOENIX - Inside the 4th Avenue jail there is an area detention officers call the "SMU."

It stands for "Special Management Unit."

"It's for the worst of the worst, but at times, like this it's for high profile inmates such as former law enforcement officers," said Sheriff Joe Arpaio while giving ABC15 an inside look the ultra-secure area.

Former Phoenix police officer Richard Chrisman is being held in the special management unit according to deputies.

Jewels, your comment made me wonder why Juan hasn't been able to find one jail-house "friend" to snitch on Jodi in 5 (going on 6) years, then I remembered that of course she wouldn't tell anyone the truth 'cause in her twisted mind she actually believes all her stories. :scared:
