NEW RIVER, AZ (AZFamily) — The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office announced on Friday that the person they believe murdered William Schonemann, a New River pastor, is in custody.

Investigators said the suspect was already behind bars on unrelated charges in another jurisdiction. MCSO didn’t release the person’s name or whereabouts. No other details were released.

“This development marks a significant step toward justice for the victim and their family. We are committed to seeing this case through and thank the community for its continued support and cooperation,” MCSO Sgt. Joaquin Enriquez said in a statement.

Pinning his hands up like Jesus on the cross in his bed is deeply personal and is meant to make a statement, IMO. This wasn't a random robbery/homicide. His family says no one has beef with him but someone felt wronged by him. Again, IMO.

Or perhaps felt wronged by the religion as a whole? They then seek out and murder a visible symbol of that religion- in this case, a pastor?

Deputies believe Schonemann was murdered soon after in a crime targeted at random, but religiously motivated, based on evidence recovered after. MCSO also said it was part of a master plan, a hit list targeting more people that Sheafe was unable to hurt because he was arrested.

Schonemann’s body was discovered as deputies conducted a welfare check at his home on Cavalry Road near 16th Street on April 28. Investigators believe he had been killed the day before he was found. MCSO declined to describe the crime scene. “Out of respect for his family, I will not share the details. But his home was a crime scene for two days,” said MCSO Capt. David Lee.

I really hope that means the home was INVESTIGATED as a crime scene for 2 days and NOT that he was a VICTIM for 2 days before his death.

That's how I interpreted it myself - that it took 2 days before the family, etc. could enter.

One possible letter even seems to have a vowel indicator (I vaguely remember that both Hebrew and Arabic designate vowels with marking underneath the letter.)

But.... none of the other possible Hebrew letters have vowel markings. This would seem to result in too many consonants for a real word.

Can anybody tell if the markings are real Hebrew letters, or just say, "drug fogged chic pseudo letters"?

MCSO may not be saying much. But this article gives a lot of history, including his home state - California. Although that’s not really true, AS has a long history in Arizona and had only recently moved to Oceanside.

YHWH might explain the heavy consonant use as conservative Jewish tradition forbids writing out, or pronouncing the full name of the Divinity. (seriously doubt this guy is Jewish-rather he had just incorperated a tradition)

believe that YHWH is the accepted abbreviation for the name. The abbreviation could leave out some of the vowel letters.
