Dorothy And Danielle Pitcher The Vanished podcast

The Vanished Podcast just did an episode on this case, and the host was able to get their hands on the official casefile. A LOT of shocking information is discussed. This is going to be a LONG post so bear with me.

The neighbor, Danny Morris the man who told the police they saw the pair going to the store, became a suspect after someone told police in 2002 told that Danny had a young blonde girl at his house who he was holding against her will. Police reinterviewed the man in 2009 and he told the police that two men picked the Pitcher's up on the highway and took them to a property owned by the Morris family, the man states he was at the residence that day and stated he saw the women there and asked who they were, one of the men said that Danielle was his girlfriend. He told police Danielle was kept for a period of time before she was murdered and buried in basement on a house on the property to which a concrete slab was poured over the area.

As horrible as this is, this is not the only missing person that is possibly tied the Morris family. The man said that a couple years prior to the Pitcher's disappearance Danny went to Texas and picked up a young girl who was a runaway. He allegedly took her back to his property where she was held captive for a period of time, she was also murdered and buried under another concrete slab. The man stated he personally saw this girl at the Morris property and thought she was 15 or 16 with blonde shoulder length hair. He says that she was kept there for the Morris family to rape. This includes Danny, his brother Johnny and their father Richard who was a sex offender. John allegedly told the man that his mother tried to help the girl escape and was beaten by Danny when he found out. The mother moved out of state shortly after.

Investigators were also able to identify a possible victim of the mystery girl from Texas, her name is Deanna Michelle Merryfield missing from Killeen, TX since July 22, 1990. Deanna was last seen by her sister getting into a car driven by two men. She told her she was going to Arizona with them ''to make lots of money'' Also a TxDPS analyst discovered that Deanna had an aunt that lived in Arizona near the Morris family in 1990 and remembers that a slim blonde girl named ''Deena'' was living on the Morris property. Deanna's aunt also stated she remembered Danny's mother being beaten and abused for trying to help this girl.

I saw this thread on the New Posts tab and was horrified.

According to TOS, I guess we are not allowed to discuss this family since they are not named as a POI.

I wonder if LE checked local concrete companies for delivery orders during that time? Or, for supply companies for large orders of concrete bags in case they have their own equipment?

In the years since, have there been any other cases of missing persons in the area?

The Vanished podcast named the family in their episode and the detective handling the case also discussed the lead and the family so i assumed it would be okay.

I agree, i too was horrified listening to the podcast. It reminds me of the Brittanee Drexel case

I don't think you posting about the podcast was wrong. It was very informative.
Maybe we will need a clarification on this case so I will alert my post.

Just finished listening to the Vanished podcast. This is one of those that seems like, and I’m sure investigators thought the same thing back then too, everything was there to solve it. Awfully sad for the large family still searching for answers :(

Bumping for you gals!

Bumping! I have questions including:
what were the results of North Moore Road search, why did it take 7 years to re-interview man who stated Danny Morris holding young blonde girl at house when that should’ve been followed up on quickly and discreetly to avoid Morris’ destroying evidence, and what is the current status of case?

Bump for little Danielle and her mom Dorothy.

Danielle has 5 rule outs.

Long time member, visiting some old cases from my past history. I first posted about Dorothy and Danielle in 2007, it's heartbreaking that there is still no resolution. Thank you to whomever posted about The Vanished podcast and the details. Anyone know what the current status of the case is and where the police investigation stands on it? Would love to see some resolution for Deanna Merryfield as well, if she is indeed on that property. Seems like some solid suspects and solid info, cases have been solved with less. Wonder why they aren't digging up that concrete, circumstantial evidence for search warrants seems reminiscent of the Kristin Smart case.

it is known that Dorothy and Danielle Pitcher were last seen by friends on their way home, it makes me think that this area was small where generally speaking everyone knew each other and looked out for each other...if that's true it's It's easy to think that someone must have heard or seen something, especially if there was a fight or foul play involved...
I'm also curious who Dorothy might have called in the store...it might be unclear if that also became part of her routine or if it's a detail that stands out from what Dawn remembered as a normal day...yeah If it were routine, it's reasonable to think that someone would have a likely answer as to who Dorothy called...
And the other thing that catches my attention is that she had 17 children...
either way
rest in peace

Not sure if this story has been posted yet. My heart hurts after reading this thread and I don't understand why this case hasn't been solved!

I just started the podcast and one of the first things I thought was that they heard from the informant in 2002 and reinterviewed him in 2009. They got a search warrant at that time but apparently did not discover anything. The problem is that seven years is a long time. Plenty of time to hear about an informant and decide that it is best to move the bodies to a different location and repour the concrete floor.

This pod cast was kind of weird.
At one point I believe that a daughter talks about going to visit a witness who had attempted suicide and was on his death bed. Apparently, the witness told her some information related to the disappearance that she believed. However, unless I missed it, what was told is not divulged. Additionally, a detective mentions speaking to a witness ( on his death bed) and that witness saying he has no information about the disappearance of the Pitchers. I am not sure if it is the same person. I also don't know what the timeline is ( did he not give the detective information but decided to talk to the daughter later?) Perhaps the witness just did not want to tell LE anything but was willing to talk with the family? I am just not sure.
That being said, it sure sounds like Danny Morris is a good suspect.

Hi everyone! Deanna’s sister here to set the record straight for the sake of Deanna’s case.
Deanna never once told her twin sister that she was heading to Arizona to make lots of money. This is 100% false information. I appreciate everyone who is on here doing the best that they can to help missing persons cases💜❤️
For more information on Deanna’s case you can check out:

I also have social media sites under the same name to help spread awareness.
