Arizona police rescue 6-month-old who had been shot during hostage standoff

The child was airlifted to a nearby hospital in serious condition, but its injuries were believed to be non-life-threatening, according to police.

In a subsequent statement, Surprise police said officers entered the residence after flames died down and it was safe to do so. Todd Christopher Marchetti was found dead from what police believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A friend of the child's mother says she and the father had a tumultuous relationship and that the suspect, Todd Marchetti, was abusive. The mother tried to get away and moved into her parent's home about two months ago. The friend says Marchetti had been stalking the mother ever since she left and broke into the home around 3 a.m. Friday morning.

Baby is adorable. Prayers for he, his mother and her family whose home is apparently the one where all this went down. So many details at this link. He planned to torture her for the days long period her parents were expected to be away on vacation.

Thank goodness that mother & child are doing well. I can't imagine going through something like that, but now mommy & baby are together, and the huge threat they both faced is gone.
