I am so, so sorry about what happened! With LE asking for even the smallest clue, and no one speaking up when we were talking about the page earlier yesterday, I really thought it was a good tip. (Especially when we found out about Homesafe in Florida, of all places.) I truly regret any trouble that may have been caused...thought I was being helpful. I just wish someone would have said something sooner. My only interest was in finding Gabriel.
My most sincere and humblest apologies. I am truly sorry.:iamashamed0005:

You don't need to be sorry. That is your job as a good person... to report things that may help find him! Man ......and that florida connection!!
If anything... if LE contacts me, I will be more than happy to fill them in on all my opinions and thoughts on the Smiths :)

ETA...going away now, to try and undo the damage. Very confused now...

Absolutely not! You do not need to apologize, we're all here for the same reason and that is to hopefully make a difference and provide some information that will bring Gabriel home. You know you're a super sleuth when you find other sleuth's in alias. We're usually pretty good at hiding our identity both true and ws. You did a great job! Keep up the good work. I'm a firm believer in "If we all work together we can make a difference." Look how much information we've already passed on to LE, good, solid information that it might have otherwise taken them weeks to find. I think we have helped.
Please don't go away...we need you here. Your heart is all about this baby, as it should be. Stay here and let's dig the good dig and help bring him home. I believe with all my heart, he is out there.
(((hugs)))

I was just thinking the same thing last night...when I thought the account was mine...lol
I was thinking; when they show up we're gonna sit down here and look at this forum from thread one and I'll tell em everything I think I know. lol
More likely they would bring out the white coats rather than the handcuffs.

This is why I believe it is dangerous to inject oneself into an active investigation. Even something as seemingly innocuous as adding a person of interest as a Facebook or MySpace friend can possibly effect an investigation. I am stressing caution to everyone who post here. It's the butterfly effect.

I just hope the investigation isn't misdirected (even for a nanosecond) because of this. Time is essential. I truly fear for this child.

Dane, I could not agree with you more.

There's so much work that could be done on this case, simply searching for information, analyzing it, and putting the pieces together in possible scenarios and leads. This information can be passed on to LE and let *them* do their jobs, as they know best. *They* are the experts at finding out what happened to these children!

If I took an action in a case, and then found out that my action prevented LE, or delayed LE, getting information that would have helped an endangered child, I just really could not live with myself. I don't understand how or why people do it. I just wish they'd stop and think of the risks they're posing to these already endangered children.

That's my opinion, and I'm sticking to it.

Good morning, friends.

BeanE, that is precisely why I have been crying for the last hour and a half as I try to fix this. I feel terrible. But I would feel even worse if I sat on information that could be valid and did nothing about it.

I'm crying right with you, b4e.

What can I do to help you this morning? I have time, and I'm more than willing.

I'll start with giving you a big hug, and a :beagle:

I think it's too late..I'm blocked from all of my accounts...can't sign into any of them. Oh Well...the only thing that really bother me is LE spending time on something like this when the time should be spent looking for Gabriel.:banghead:
I don't think we are going to find the baby on facebook or myspace. We might find some information to speculate over but I really don't think facebook is the key to finding this baby.

I guess we can look on the bright side, we know that LE is taking the tipe seriously?? I so sorry!!!

I have e-mailed the same tipline I sent the link to, explaining my mistake and apologizing profusely. (I did not mention Websleuths in either e-mail.) I am re-posting Gabe's information on all of my various missing persons sites, hoping to generate some new (useful) leads...

I do want to point some things out.
False leads are part of being in Law Enforcement. Among the people that think they have real, true viable information, there are also crackpots, crazies, opportunists, and revenge seekers. This is part of the deal. People that turn in a webpage thinking that something is important are the least of the law enforcement worries, especially in a high profile case. It will be looked into, but at least it's quick to clear the person. Not so quick to clear the guy who's exwife turns him in as having Gabe, just because she knows it will make it hard on him and he has no alibi for the time frame.
So, seeing something online and turning it in is an honest attempt to help, it is also an honest mistake if the webpage is from a legitimate person. It is also easy to monitor and not a real waste of law enforcement resources.

I would also like to recommend that the true definition of "inserting" oneself in an investigation be looked up, as this does not qualify. Nor do things like owning a crime forum, as was recently suggested.
Personally, I am more offended by the insinuation that LE will be effectively derailed in their investigation by a fake Facebook page than I am the fact that it was created and reported. I think most in law enforcement would feel the same.

:blushing: It was nice to have some kind of hope yesterday. So sorry to disturb the board, and on my first day. My intentions were honest, and I guess with such a slow newsday...I mean, the total VOID of newsday, I was certainly grasping at straws.

I hope the quiet in this case today is a sign that LE is getting all their ducks in a row to press charges against TS.

Excellent post NMK. As a long time lurker, it was not my intention for my first post here to flame nor was it to troll. My sincerest apologies to anyone truly offended by my post. I fear I may tend to be cynical in my old age. I will, however, adhere to the thesis in my previous post. I think the case of murdered child, Caylee Anthony, has established a new precedent with the advent of blogging and the success of crime forums. As we see, obfuscation and misdirection (not so new) have been implemented by people who have truly inserted themselves into the case. Many of the "leads" they have utilized have come from the cyberworld. My post was really to stress the need for caution when involving oneself is active investigations, no matter how minimal the involvement may seem. You know what they say about good intentions. As I stated earlier, all of this confusion could have been cleared up before LE was contacted.

Special note to b4e: I commend you on your courage and strength. You are a good person and I want you to know that I know and believe that with all my heart.

I do want to point some things out.

Gosh, I sure do hope that the quietness means LE is getting all their ducks in a row. How nice would it be at the vigal (sp?) tomorrow night to have had word that Gabe has been found safe and sound!

Sure does. Just search Florida Cyber Crime Unit.

So I got offline and went to bed last night after posting back to you. Did you join it? Maybe they want you to help spread the word??? Learn anything more?

I must of missed something on here last night. I am so confused this morning.

That would be incredible. I have to have hope for him, he deserves that.

yes, I accepted them and unfortunately I have no new news...I wish we did. I wish they would just find him already and haul everyone who had anything to do with his disappearance straight to jail.
