Did the babysitter cut something with the knife?
Did she feel the blade herself?
If neither of those, what makes her so sure that it was sharp?
If I saw a knife sitting on a counter in someones home, for instance, I would not assume that it was sharp. I would simply describe it based on me seeing it. It might be big or small, black or white, but I wouldn't know if it was sharp or not.

So I guess we have to take this as either the babysitter touched the knife, or is lying, right?

I describe knives as sharp based on looks only too, so please put me down on the liar list.

I just live vicariously through those who are "friends" with Tammi. I don't have or want a FB acct. So, thanks to all of you who paraphrase her remarks!

Exactly, I agree.
Not to mention that this babysitter admits to having a lot of experience with kids, practically raising her own siblings, etc... and yet does not alert anyone to a drugged up, thin, dirty baby in a dirty hotel with an angry mother who says "If he cries just give him more drugs to shut him up", a sharp knife next to the bed, and being greeted by the mom with a look of "she looked like she wanted to kill me"

I think this babysitter was actually there. I just think she is embellishing the story to fit somebody elses directed version.

The fact that Tammi admitted to speaking to the babysitter the night before any of us heard from the babysitter herself, just screams hinky to me.

I fully believe that this babysitter was told what to say, and I think it even goes back to long before the night Tammi admitted to talking with her on the phone.

Holy Moly, how did I miss the fact that Tammi talked to the babysitter!! Oh my, grrrr How come Tammi gets to talk to Elizabeth and now the sitter! This is way weird. IMO

Wrong. IMO it doesn't mean that she was lying. She just saw a knife and presumed that it was sharp.

I think the babysitter was being dramatic and didn't think the story would go far, then all of the sudden she is on nancy grace and she had to stick toher drama story.

Also here are pictures of the hotels there.

comes with a full kitchen, the kitchen is not near the bed.
Is she really that lazy that she had the knife in bed eating? probably.

Well....to be accurate.....Tammi SAYS she got a call from a reporter in SA who was with the babysitter and put her on the phone with Tammi.

I have a quick question, I asked the other day but I don't recall seeing an answer. Maybe nobody knows...IDK

When I saw the list of states there were searches going on in, Louisiana was listed.

Does anybody know another connection to my great state besides TPS's ex and children?

Does TPS have direct connections here?

TIA

O/T: Geaux Saints!!! who dat? (sorry)

I've now read 3 different dates. Twice yesterday I read sources listing the 20th. Then somebody on here said it was the 23rd. Then while searching for my original sources of the 20th I found one that said the 21st and another that said the 23rd.

I would love to know the actual, factual date if anybody finds it.

The 23rd is the date she sat. The date in question is the one she was contacted by Eliz.

I believe the babysitter because she really didn't say that much. The baby had boogers around his nose, so she may have assumed he had been sick and tylenol would shut him up. She didn't mention Elizabeth mentioning anything about him being sick though. It was the not wanting to be put down, being thin, not smiling or wanting to play, and getting excited about his bottle that was so disturbing. I do not believe she made that up, because she has no reason to lie or make up anything. There may not have been enough in her mind at that time to be calling CPS, but after the disappearance of the baby it all fit together. Also, being called to babysit in a motel for some strange young woman dressed like a hooker in the middle of the day, a person wouldn't be too impressed anyway.

Thank you, but why? Why would the reporter feel the need to hook the 2 up on the phone? I am slow, sorry.

Hi Lisanne

Aaaaah, pghbrandi, how did I mangle up your quote like that? (sings) Newbie dooby-doo, de Newbie Newbie. So sorry. What do you think of the babysitter story?

 • #834
You are entitiled to your opinion. Myself, I do not find it out of the realm of possibilities to assume a knife is sharp.

But would you describe it as such in an interview in this case? Based on sight alone? Or would you just say "a knife" to describe it? Sharp to me sounds like it was an implanted adjective, as an after thought to make it sound scary. Why else say sharp in this situation? I could fully understand "big" as a valid description in describing it in this situation.

I am asking sincerely. I handle a lot of knives. I see a ton of dull knives. So my view on this is very likely biased due to that.

But think about it. If you had just walked into a friends house, and there was a knife on the counter, and you assumed it was sharp, and someone asked you later what was on the counter, would you say "a knife" or "a sharp knife?"

In fact, the natural assumption that a knife would be sharp, would make the act of describing one as such that much more unbelievable to me.

I think there was a knife there. I think she was told to say it was sharp, to sensationalize the story.

Not a super important fact, just one more thing to lead me to believe that this babysitter was coached in her description of things that night.

Fair enough, I am taking the hint and shutting up.

Maricopa County prosecutors say 23-year-old Elizabeth Johnson was indicted Thursday by a grand jury on charges of kidnapping, child abuse and custodial interference. She remains jailed in Phoenix.

Authorities say Johnson fled the state with her 8-month-old son Gabriel during the week of December 22 in an apparent custody battle. The boy was last seen in San Antonio where Johnson spent Dec. 22 to 27 in two different motels. Johnson was arrested Dec. 30 in Miami and extradited to Arizona.

UPDATED: Mother of missing Tempe toddler officially charged
Last Update: 2:29 pm

The mother of an 8-month-old boy who has been missing since late December was indicted by a grand jury Thursday.

Elizabeth Johnson was indicted on charges of kidnapping, chid abuse, custodial interference, and conspiracy to commit custodial interference.

Tempe Police Department spokesperson Mike Horn confirmed that a search warrant was served at Tammi and Jack Smith's home near 160th Street and Rio Verde Trail Thursday night.

Jack Smith said police took his laptop computer and made a copy of his business computer's hard drive. He said they also took brochures they had for a foster agency.

He said police arrived around 7:30 p.m. to secure the home until the search warrant arrived. Smith said detectives began searching around 11 p.m., finishing around 12:45 a.m.

The Smiths say they offered to allow police search the home weeks ago.

"When Gabriel disappeared, they said basically, if you really care about your son and you want him back, and you want Elizabeth to bring him back, that you'll sign the paperwork and then she'll bring him back to us, and you'll know he's safe," said McQueary. "And I said, no, I'm not signing any paperwork."

The Smiths said they were just relaying messages from Johnson to McQueary after she had taken off with the baby.

"Let's do this paperwork, and maybe she'll tell us where the baby is," Tammi said. "It's not legal anyway, but does she have to know that? I mean, I'd rather get the baby back and sign the phony papers, but I guess the detectives don't want us to do that."

Despite reports that they wished to adopt Gabriel, the Smiths now say they have nothing to hide, and that they're doing all they can to reunited Gabriel with his father.

"We were actually just thinking of maybe just getting a dog," joked Tammi.:shakehead: "It seems to be a hard process adopting, and I don't know that we want to go through this again, unless the courts said, here's a baby and the parents both signed. That's different."

How Elizabeth and the baby disappeared
Police say Elizabeth left Arizona with Gabriel on December 18. There have been no signs of her child since the day after Christmas.

Police did find Elizabeth in Florida and arrested her for failing to appear at her custodial hearing.

"She was confronted, arrested and interviewed exhaustively about the whereabouts of the child," said Wayne Jones, with Miami Beach Police.

Elizabeth's twin brother, Robert Johnson, said he doesn't believe his sister's story, but also said he has to support her.

In September of 2009, police arrested her for criminal damage.

Then in December of 2009, another police report revealed Elizabeth called police and told them McQueary had taken Gabriel and would no give him back.

Police later accused her of filing a false police report after learning Johnson herself gave Gabriel to Tammi and Jack Smith.

Baby Gabriel's sitter speaks out
Posted on January 15, 2010 at 4:51 PM
Updated today at 4:58 PM
<snipped>
A babysitter who watched Gabriel Johnson the night he and his mother arrived in San Antonio says Elizabeth Johnson seemed detached from her son. 18-year-old Analisa Urias says Johnson contacted her after seeing her babysitter ad on Craigslist and hired her to watch her son on the night of December 21st at the Homegate Studios and Suites on Laureate Drive.

“She was not affectionate towards Gabriel or anything, it did not seem like she really wanted him.” said Urias who says Johnson gave very few instructions to the babysitter before leaving. Urias says there was a sharp knife sitting in the room.

Two hours later, Johnson returned to the room and received a phone call from someone speaking loud enough for Analisa to hear. Johnson told her it was her grandmother and explained her husband was threatening her family because of a custody battle

“She said she needed to figure out what she was going to do with her life.” according to Urias.
