PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) - It’s been over a decade since anyone saw Gabriel Johnson. The toddler from Tempe, whose mom, at the time, was named Elizabeth Johnson, allegedly traveled to San Antonio, Texas, and gave the boy up for adoption in a hotel room.

A new docuseries just released on the streaming service Peacock is reopening the investigation with new, never-before-seen interviews with the lead detective in San Antonio. The series also features interviews with veteran Arizona’s Family reporter Mike Watkiss who covered the case extensively when Gabriel first went missing in 2009, and True Crime Arizona host and reporter Briana Whitney.

The filmmaker looked at a website of 15,000 missing persons cases and felt this case was the one that deserved a worldwide spotlight. Now you can decide for yourself: Where is Baby Gabriel? “We can’t give up hope that he’s out there until there’s conclusive evidence that he isn’t. I think certain theories in this documentary are credible that he could be out there,” said Leader.

I wouldn't be surprised if Tammi had something to do with the case along with the mother. Tammi's interview in the documentary was bizarre.

A recent phone call has reignited hope for the family. The caller, connected to the missing child, revealed, "There are things Elizabeth told me that have been tormenting me for years. She told me she killed the baby. I really thought she was taking it to the grave." However, when detectives traveled to Arizona, the individual denied the conversation, leaving the case unresolved.

The family has urged the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) to transfer the case to the Texas Attorney General’s Cold Case and Missing Persons’ Unit. Peters noted, "The Attorney General's Office... offered to do that in our case... but they wouldn't let the Attorney General's Office come in and help."

Lois Gibson, a former forensic artist for Houston PD, reviewed images of another child and found a striking resemblance to Gabriel's father, Logan McQuery. Peters remarked, "The match between that child and Logan is uncanny. That gives us hope."
