One down, I think it is pretty good sentence considering it would be hard to identify who did the fatal blow, glad to see some justice coming down.

If so, it looks like the prosecutor is applying the "truth in sentencing" philosophy where the victims and their families are assured of meaningful punishments for the perpetrators instead of:

Good news, The Court sentenced him to say, 11 years in prison! And.... now the fine print- he can apply for parole in 3.5 years and that as he does not have a prior criminal record, he is likely to get parole the first time up.

But wait, there is more.... he"ll get placed in a halfway house for 6 months, so he is really likely to be imprisoned for only 3 years..... .
