The child, who was hospitalized at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, had suffered 12 broken bones, as well as several possible burns, lacerations and bruises. Some of her wounds, which had been left untreated, were reportedly infected. One cut was so deep the girl’s shin bone was exposed, court filings show. She was also allegedly severely malnourished.

The child told police she had been struck with a machete, a crow bar and a hammer in different parts of her body and had been punched in the face multiple times by both suspects.

Each of the defendants are currently being detained in the Maricopa County Jail on $50,000 bond. Jail records say Sergent is due in court on April 12 for a status conference and on April 14 for a preliminary hearing.

The case numbers are CR2022-112217-001 and CR2022-112217-002 in Maricopa County, Ariz.

IMO, I think that the so called "parents" should face a mandatory death sentence. That' how I feel about this type of crime against a helpless child. I can't think of any reason the parents should be wasting oxygen.
