After seeing some updated threads about her in other forums I was able to find a few online comments from a family friend who claimed that at the time of Heathers disappearance she had a boyfriend who isolated her, and it was believed she may have been living on the streets in Tucson. She had signed herself out of the hospital, given that she was not a minor they could not hold her. It was said that the family was devastated and made significant efforts to locate her, including putting up signs around town. They didn’t provide any recent details, including whether or not they were still in touch with the family today. Given how young she was when she disappeared. It’s hard for me to believe she’s been out there living on the streets for the last 30 years. I also wondered whether it was possible that perhaps she’s not actually missing at all. I would like to believe that their systems in place to verify those individuals whose cases are still open were in fact, never found, but I know there are always things that slipped through the cracks. Is it possible she is alive and well, estranged from her family and Pima county never officially closed the book?
