"Because of security concerns and concerns for the privacy of Rebecca and Sergio Celis, KGUN9 News has agreed to withhold the location where the press conference took place. KGUN9 News has confirmed, however, that NBC News has been paying for the Celis family to stay at the hotel. During the press conference, the Celis's denied that they were directly compensated for Thursday's exclusive appearance on The Today Show or for the exclusive video of Isabel that they provided to NBC. The family released that same video to Tucson media later Thursday."

Hopefully KGUN9 or some other outlet has done some digging into this, because when SC's and RC's lips are moving they're lying. JMO.

hmmmmm......reminds me of a certain family in Orlando! :moo:

WE (this board) went over this twenty days ago so it is moot and OLD. :moo:

So glad that you agree with me that the date is moot. :)

As for it being "old," I wasn't even following this case 20 days ago and seriously doubt that every single poster -- or the 18 guests currently online -- were either OR that they've read every post in this thread and the 18 Celis threads that preceded it AND memorized the salient points (when there were some) of every single post.

Some of us are new to this case. That is reality.

So I guess the State can dig into how much money they've made so far and will, because if they can't tell the truth about this one thing...

How is NBC paying for their room considered "directly compensating" them? I'm confused, I don't see a lie here.:moo:

Just as I speculated. Documents being released on a long Holiday weekend. :banghead: (hope the head bang doesn't offend anyone again, but I have no other icon to use just now). UGH.

I remember you did...
This is the history...LE releases information on Thursdays or Fridays outside of official press updates

  • #908
That article shows how thorough LE is being in following up with anything brought to them. And some of it is crazy.

They are not going to release any document that actually tells anyone the real guts of their case. No way, No how!

If you see it, it will be in a trial.

  • #909
The POINT is that NBC had paid for their hotel lodging, so they received remuneration from the network even *IF* they had not received direct payment for the interview. The date is moot.

The question to the Celis' was if they were directly compensated by the network. The answer was no and they weren't.

OMG, I don't even think coffee will work for me.

They need some speed readers...lol.

Anyone want to place bets on who will have the docs posted on their website first?

You can bet that every aspect of the Celis FINANCES (and, yes, that includes the huge, expensive HOUSE that they purchased) have been gone over with a fine-toothed comb by LE. I am confident that LE has done a thorough job in that department. JMO.

Meh, it's more of a "define 'compensation'" a la Clinton argument.

I think it was deceptive, personally, and I do consider it compensation, but some may argue that since nobody wrote the Celises a check, it doesn't count. JMO

They did receive compensation from them, however. This DOES matter to people and helps mold their perception of the Celises and their intentions. That is why media addressed the issue.

This may be just me but, I really don't consider the Celis house to be anywhere near huge or extremely expensive. Of course, that is all relative.

Well stated, Frayed! That was wordparsing to be sure.

"Another officer wrote that he was assigned to stop people entering and leaving a neighborhood at 12th Street and Van Buren Avenue, east of Isabel’s house, on April 24. His report listed all the people he spoke with, the reason they were driving or walking in the area. Most said they were going to work, school, visiting relatives or running errands.

Wonder why that neighborhood?

Please peeps, recall at all times that WS does NOT allow sleuthing of non-victim minors.

So just don't do that.

Was the question "directly" compensated or just cmpensated? IMO a financial agreement was made for NBC to get the first interview, in my mind that is compensation and the.family did not tell the truth.

So, I'm on CDT, and it's 10:13 here.
Is AZ same as Pacific when it's DST, and Mountain when it's Standard?

What time does your evening news air, 11? Which means I'd have to stay up til 1 am my time! Augh!

*head falls off*
