That was very interesting how they found him...even though he paid cash for the stuff at the Nike sports store (murder weapon being a bat), they traced his credit card activity to a place that was right near the Nike store...and the Nike store was able to pull up their records that a cash purchase for the bat right after his credit card activity in the same area.

Note to all murders: use cash for everything

Thanks for filling in the rest of the story - I thought it was such an interesting case - he thought he was being so clever, but as in most cases the criminal forgets one tiny detail. It always amazes me how complex these investigations are - glad they caught him!

There are two that I'm aware of

TUCSON - Police have released hundreds of pages of documents in the Isabel Celis case.

They are officers' reports related to the investigation.

Among the revelations:

Becky Celis and Isabel's two older brothers were crying when one officer arrived.

Becky Celis asked police if they had contacted authorities near the border.

Becky Celis reported having a good relationship with her family at home.

Sergio Celis said he fell asleep on the couch watching a prerecorded baseball game the night Isabel disappeared. He claims he woke up and went to bed around 5 a.m.

Multiple officers reported footprints on a utility box behind the home.

Many reports were false leads.

Officers were sent to investigate a strange smell on April 24. They found parts of a rotting rattlesnake carcass in a trash can.

Some reports were extremely brief. On April 24, one officer simply wrote, "I responded and provided scene security for the command post."

Many police reports remain sealed from public records requests.

Can't locate the other one.

Thank you, Having it all listed helps a lot

Some of the media is stating "utility box" and some are saying "electrical box". There is also the gas meter referenced.

Multiple officers also noticed footprints on a utility box behind the home, which could have been used to hop over the wall surrounding the Celis home, according to ABC News.

The official also photographed footprints in the alleyway south of the Celis home and "several shoe impressions on top of an electrical box located directly behind the residence."

In another report, an officer details how a set of footprints was discovered on top of a small electrical box at the rear southeast corner of the Celis home. The footprints appeared to be from a "Wolverine brand work boot or similar type shoe."

K-9 units also discovered possible matching prints on top of a gas meter on the west side of the house.

If SC has nothing to do with Isa missing, maybe he woke from Isa being taken but didn't realize it was noise that woke him at 5am?

Or Becky's alarm clock?

The police reports released Thursday do not name a specific suspect or show any possible theories about what happened to the girl, but detail evidence found around the crime scene. One report shows that detectives saw "apparent blood on the floor" of Celis' bedroom, and took into custody a white hat and vinyl shower curtain that had "dark red-brown or brown stains" and were found in a car located outside the family's home.

In another report, detectives noted that one person interviewed during the investigation "said that a guy who was staying with the family owed someone a lot of money and that's why she was taken."

DNA samples were taken from Isabel's parents and brothers on the morning of her disappearance. An officer wrote that he took swab samples from their mouths. Also, all the bedding from the Celis home was removed, police said. Writings on Isabel's closet-door frame and walls were photographed. Blood was collected from Isabel's parents.

• Officers conducted intensive searches for days, stopping and questioning all people walking or driving in different areas around Isabel's home in the 5600 block of East 12th Street. They also questioned numerous sex offenders and as many residents as they encountered in nearby homes and apartments. Officers reviewed hours of video footage taken from traffic cameras around town looking for vehicles that had young children in them.

• Officers checked vacant buildings and homes, schools, desert areas, parks, tunnels under roads, lakes, an old drive-in theater and retention basins. The initial search spread to nearly every part of the city and extended as far east as Redington Pass. Officers also checked backyard pools and, in one case, an underground bomb shelter.

• Numerous reports were checked out in the following days of people seen walking, driving or in businesses with a young girl who looked like Isabel.

• Police also received tips from psychics and others who either claimed they had dreams that revealed Isabel's location or gave suggestions to officers.

• Police searched a truck belonging to one of Isabel's uncles on April 24

Thanks for that reminder, because bleach IMO is quite a common substance to find on a shower curtain. My showers have doors, not curtains, but I do clean them with bleach.
I was weirded out about the curtain being in the car, but several posters offered plausible scenarios for that, so I am past it now.

Yeah, I was intially weirded out by the shower curtain also... I guess I immediately thought "good thing to wrap a body in to not leave a blood trail". For years I have had this big piece of Naugahyde in my car - for my dog who is now, unfortunately, passed. But the shower curtain still seems weird!

I'm not sure how often presumptive positives are false postives and I believe every different chemical used could have different stats. I don't think they differentiate between human and animal blood either.

Re: footprints

While googling wolverine workboots, I was reminded very much of baseball cleats. I've seen both little league and professional coaches wearing cleats.

I would think by now they would know if those stains are blood, no? Also I am really concerned about a shower curtain in the car? Was it missing from the house? Or was it used in the car trunk to keep dirt etc. off the trunk liner?

I wonder.

Again the perp if an outside perp would need to have been watching the house and know that they got home late and also know what room was Isa's. That is a lot of knowledge. MO

Another thing I find interesting is RC mentioned in one of the interviews that she didn't know anybody in Mexico and that her immediate family is here (paraphrasing). She made it sound like there was no reason for Isabel to be taken there but then we read the documents and one of the questions she asks police is if they contacted border authorities.

Anyway, just an observation. Yes, I know it's close to the border but like I said it's interesting that she says one thing in an interview and then she mentions something else to LE.

Would that be someone's immediate thought to check border police?

I did find the LE report on a bomb shelter very odd ... but after looking around on the Assessor site in the last few weeks, I did note houses built in the 50s...

Or it's survivalists. We watched the tv show on this a few times and I'm surprised they keep finding people who put so much effort into that. Of course, not all of them have something under ground and they probably don't call it a 'bomb shelter'.

It could be called a fruit cellar for some possibly older folks? I just find it odd that there are still homes on Isa's street where people haven't been able to be contacted, then now we read that LE has been looking inside bomb shelters.

Yeah, but IMO the "electrical box" they are reporting on the south east side is the box that Anita had photographed when she was there.
Last night she posted a Google map showing the location on the south east corner

IMO I would as a mom living in Tucson. Immediately want to make sure they contact border police to make sure they are aware, and to check cars going into mexico. But again, I would be frantic, and wanting everyone, eveywhere searched. Just me. :moo:

I've seen adventurous people wear work boots too, especially in the snow because they are cheaper than snow boots.

IMO RC asking LE if they contacted the border simply evidences that she had the same thought as many on the internet who immediately thought of smuggling and cartels. It just makes her seem more like all who don't know what happened IMO

Definitely! An ex of mine did this.
