Ocean Blue Eyes, regarding people being "unmerciful" to the parents: don't worry about that at this point. If the parents had nothing to do with Isabel's disappearance, then they are not paying any attention to peoples' opinions about them right now. Also, if they had nothing to do with her disappearance, that will become obvious soon (even if no one is arrested). Many people were critical of Elizabeth Smart's father when she first disappeared, but, over time, it became obvious he had nothing to do with the kidnapping and people backed off.

(In the interest of full disclosure, I should tell you I strongly suspect Isabel was killed accidentally by an adult family member and that her body was disposed of to protect that person. If that turns out not tbe the case, I'll acknowledge it, but I won't feel guilty that I suspected them at first.)

Welcome, Aura! I'm also a local. Thanks for posting, I don't know anyone who knows the dad, so it's good to hear some positive from that side, too.

Yesterday, as I was driving away from the command center/volunteer tent I was overcome with the thought that our town is just recovering from losing "our daughter" Christina-Taylor Green and now we're searching in a landfill for another daughter. :(

The little girl who was shot during the Gabrielle Giffords incident. So sad

True. I remember how relentless some people were with Diena Thompson, among other parents, but Diena and what she went through in the "court of public opinion" sticks out most in my mind.

Its been too many to count. Diena isnt the only one that has had to endure this.

I admire that woman so much. No matter what anyone said about her she remained strong and committed.

IMO

Thanks all for the wonderful welcomes. :)

I was thinking the same thing. It has barely been a year since that stupid shooting. I read Gabby's book, and it is very inspirational. I was a victim in a violent crime, and her book is just great for people to read about her troubles and conquering her injuries.

Always with a case like this, the parents are always the first to be suspects. And this case is definitly weird. But I really hate to blame the parents when we just dont know. I know no one here was doing that. And I dont know for sure the parents arent responsible, but everything I have heard about the parents is that they are wonderful, loving people. Im glued to channel 4 to see the parents talk. I just talked to my friend. Its her sister that has worked with the father for many years at a oral surgery place. I wont say the name. But the sister has said this whole time, that the father and the mother always talked of their children with alot of love. There were many work picnics where the whole family were there playing and having a great time.

I wish there was something more I could do to help. The volunteers that have come forward and helping with the flyers and searching are just wonderful.

I felt Diena was genuine and was surprised that others didn't agree.

And I felt Billie Dunn was genuine the first time I saw her. The jury is still out on that one. :innocent:

I really wish that was true but it isnt.

I will never forget Mark Lunsford's haunting angry words on one of NGs show after Couey had been arrested when he said what hurt him so much was to see what was being said about him and his family in the media and on the internet.

I really hate to see them come forward actually. I have seen how unmercifal some can be when parents do speak out.

Just like the news reporter on HLN just said .......when they come forth they will be critized and scrutinized one way or another.......

imo

It's always a "no win" situation in cases like this. If they don't speak, we want to know why. When they do speak, either they aren't saying enough, or not showing enough emotions etc., etc.

Do you have a LINK to a stream for the parents statement?

WHO did they call SOBs and what is the CONTEXT in your opinion?

*Snipped*

Yes, I think they waited so that BAU could get a profile on the type of person that will no doubt be listening. (the one who took Isa) I think the one that did this is keeping up with all the media stories about this case.

imo
ITA!

On another note, I was very proud of our TPD and the announcement regarding how closely they're working with the FBI. The fact that they're pairing up (one agent/one detective) in this case is showing some inter-agency cooperation that I think is extremely important. :woohoo:

Me too!!!

I think so too, I wish I could watch it live but will be with a computer in about 3 minutes. I would be interest to know if the BSU/BAU have come up with a profile as well.

IMO she always strikes me as being gracious and having a lot of dignity. But also being a relentless seeker of justice for her child.

I think the BAU would have wanted to talk to the parents before their statement. We have all seen it on criminal minds how they want to get certain information out there from the parents in hopes that whomever is involved is watching.

I am glad the parents are making a statement shortly but I was fine if they didn't. It did not sway my opinion on this if they did not speak to reporters or make a statement.

Oh, during a press conference I think yesterday, a question was asked why the parents havent spoken to the media. After I heard that, I felt it would be soon when the parents do talk cause now people are wondering if the parents arent talking then that must mean they may have something to do with it. And I agree the parents are probably being coached what to say to the media. I dont know how I would be in this situation. If someone took my son out of his window.. would I want to talk to the press about it. I dont know. I think, even though most people are leaving the family alone, im sure there is that one person that is saying it was the parents, and spreading rumors. Ive already heard some stupid rumors, that have turned out false. One of the first things I heard, was that the parents werent cooperating at all..which of course is a lie, the police are saying over and over the parents are cooperating fully.

The weather around here today is pretty calm, but ther is high winds, and when they are out, it can be calm no wind, and then a second later, and huge gush comes in, and rips everything out. So that is probably the problem with the weather today. Just a guess though.

Agreed. I don't know that the FBI had to encourage them. I think they may have been told to wait for a profile to be done so they could be coached in what to say to have maximum effect.

I really wish that was true but it isnt.

Not only that, but when people begin frothing at the mouth over a certain person as a suspect, other leads can be ignored by the public.
