That was heartbreaking.

It certainly sounds from the posts I read that children Isabel's age sleep very soundly and are hard to arouse.

Would Isabel's parents have to wake her up to go to the potty during the night?

Do five-year olds attend school full-time or part-time?

Do parents normally keep their children's bedroom doors open or closed after they put them to bed? TIA

I think most kids at that age do not get up to go to the bathroom, or if they do, they do it w/out assistance.

I close the kids doors because of fire safety, but I just recently started doing that (one more thing to worry about).

I was surprised by the plea to know their demands. I don't know if that's wishful thinking on the part of Isabel's parents, that she may have been kidnapped for ransom, or what.

Both mom and dad seem genuine and sincere to me.

I don't see any thing in their speech or demeanor that makes them seem hinky. I think they are both incredibly distraught and have no clue where their baby girl is. :rose:

Her father said something that I don't hear a lot in cases where it is later discovered that the parents had involvement. "Tell us your demands."

I don't think I've heard that but one or two times from parents that were the reason for the child's disappearance. I'm used to hearing them say bring her home, drop her off safe, but they don't often mention demands or ransom, because they know there will never be any such demands.

i think mothers statement was a little choppy, but i will chalk that up to being bi-lingual as she seemed much mroe comfortable speaking in Spanish, than in english. I think these parents had nothing to do with it, and are hanging in there simply on the belief that there will be a ransom demand, and they can bring her home.

Has the BAU released a profile yet?

The parents' plea was absolutely undeniably heart-wrenching. :-( It was especially powerful their speaking in both Spanish and English to reach a wider audience. My heart goes out to them and the torture they clearly are enduring. I pray she is in no pain or suffering wherever she is.

I'm at work and couldn't see it. Sounds like from what I'm reading here that there wasn't any hink.

I feel like crying just reading the written words!!!

You know that would be the best case scenario I think. Probably not very realistic since they seem to be pretty middle class, but maybe they have to think more along that line than the alternative in order to continue breathing and living this ordeal right now.

It was said they were escorted there by police.

My heart is breaking for them. I can understand why they have chosen to stay with their supportive family and friends. They are absolutely devastated IMO.

It was almost like watching a funeral. Horribly sad. Poor people.

ughhh i know, i know Im sounding critical and didnt want to be that way at all. But who were the women cutting up and laughing with Isabel T-shirts before the presser began? Was one of them mom? I didnt feel the same intense emotion with her like I did dad. I know though Dad was the one who found her missing, but to me it seemed different. Im a mom and maybe I am juding too much so if so please just put me in my place. Im going to have to rewatch that and see if I get the same feeling. :(

After watching that, it just pushed my beliefs that the parents had nothing to do with this at all. Incredibly sad.

I pray and pray that child is in no pain, and is unhurt. I read somewhere that a family who had a child kidnapped had asked after many days of missing, "I dont know whether to pray for her to be alive or if she is suffering that she is dead." I pray to GOD this child was and is not hurt at all. and that she is found quickly!

By the time a child is in 1st grade, they are generally potty trained and if they got up in the night, wouldn't need assistance. A child Isabel's age would attend school full time. The Richkids' bedroom doors are shut (fire danger) at night, but my door is open to hear if they cry out. Since Isa went missing, I've been waking once or twice a night to check on them.

In answer to a set of former qustions...
I don't wake my son up to go to the bathroom, he goes by himself, even in the middle of the night. He's 6, his 4 year old brother does the same.

As far as bedroom doors, i don't know, we don't have bedroom doors on the kids room, due to my son's habit of trying to amputate fingers with doors.

I know a lot of other kids the same age that take themselves to potty, even at night. Most of them that don't wear Goodnights, because by the age of 6, most parents are sick of getting up in the middle of the night, LOL.

Nope, Isa's mother came in from the side right before it started. The people behind the podium looked to be family and friends.

It was brief, and I'm sure that the statement will be replayed throughout the evening. You'll get to see and hear it eventually.

Aura, I totally agree. I've also heard that quote, and I pray the same.
